How To Crochet A Blanket With Spiked Sedge Stitch


Crochet Blankets are the most versatile and fun projects to whip up. There are so many stitch variations you can combine to make a beautifully textured Blanket. Crochet blankets are always a popular choice among crocheters , be a beginner or a experienced Crocheter. 

Today am sharing the pattern for a pretty easy and quick Crochet Spiked Sedge Stitch Blanket. This is a fabulous textured stitch which is reversible too making it a great stitch for many crochet projects. This stitch is similar to the Sedge Stitch except that the last Double Crochet is worked in the stitch from One Row below. This stitch is worked with basic stitches like Single Crochets, Half Double Crochets and Double Crochets.

Materials Used:-
8 Ply Cake Yarn
4 mm Crochet Hook




Size:-
38 inches- Customizable to any size

Let's Start:-

Round 1:-
Start with a Slip Knot.
Chain 99 + 2  Chains for the Turning Chain.
This measures around 38 inches.
You can adjust the size of the blanket by altering these stitches according to your requirement.
Start with any number Multiple of 3 + 2 Chains extra for the turning chain.


Round 2:-
1 Single Crochet in the Second Chain from the hook.
1 Single Crochet each in the remaining stitches.
Once you reach end, Chain 1 and turn your work.



Round 3:-
(1 Single Crochet , 1 Half Double Crochet, 1 Double Crochet) - make all these stitches in the first stitch.
Skip 2 stitches.
In the next stitch make (1 Single Crochet , 1 Half Double Crochet, 1 Double Crochet)
Repeat((1SC,1HDC,1DC), skip 2)
1 Single Crochet in the last stitch.
Chain 1 and turn your project.







Round 4:-
In the First Stitch make-)(1 Single Crochet , 1 Half Double Crochet),1 Double Crochet in the stitch from 1 Row Below))
Skip 2 stitches.
in the next stitch(i.e. the Single Crochet from the previous round) make (1 Single Crochet , 1 Half Double Crochet, 1 Double Crochet in the stitch from 1 Row Below)
Repeat((1SC,1HDC),1DC in the st from 1 Row below), skip 2)
1 Single Crochet in the last stitch.
Chain 1 and turn your project.








Round 5 Onwards:-
Keep repeating Round 4 untill the size needed.






Here is the Summary of the Pattern:-

Round 1:-

1SC in the last St.
Chain 1and turn your project.

Round 5 Onwards:-
Keep repeating Round 4 untill the size needed.
