So I’m now caught up to July (what was I doing?!) and here is Pencil Pusher! This lone star Quilt and also an article on the aggregation of marginal gains was published in Make Modern magazine, issue 30. I think sometimes I make a quilt, have to keep it on the DL and then totally forget to blog about it once it’s published!

It’s designed to use up LV large scraps and also 1/4 yard cuts of Fabric from your stash. I didn’t buy any additional fabric to make this quilt.

I also made a video at the time about matching points on lone star blocks when strip piecing which several people have told me is useful (and I’ve had 1500 views on!). Find that here! YouTube: another thing I’ve neglected of late.

STATS
Size –  small at 44 1/2″ square.
Number of blocks – I guess six background blocks and eight focal blocks if we count the points- 14. 
Time to make – Quilting took forever on this one so about 18 hours.
Fabric – Stuff from stash, solids, a bit of Tula, lots I don’t remember. There’s even trouser leg fabric in here (the purple).
Binding Fabric – Stripe from stash (unknown print).
Backing – Some Tula Pink from stash but made bigger by putting a bit of Michael Miller wideback scrap in the centre so it was big enough.
Threads – Isacord and Decobob
Batting – 80/20 Hobbs Heirloom.
Quilting- I used a design from Step by Step Texture Quilting by Christina Camelli, which meant I had to draw a wavy grid on this quilt, echo quilt the lines and then fill in the insides.
