A finish – Frost

Oh wow, so it turns out I have four unblogged quilts for 2019, so I guess I’ll post about them in quick succession! Coming up soon – Pencil Pusher, Helsinki Square Dance 2 and High Flying Birds!

This though is Frost, made in April 2019, lets see what I can remember about this one… It’s really two blocks, a strip pieced hourglass block alternated with an applique orange peel. The borders have additional applique to Finish off the sharper shapes, which I love! I originally designed it to be in blues and whites since the shape was inspired by icicles, but the editors at Quilter’s World wanted a more colourful look, and so you will find it in the Winter 2019 issue called Quilted Tiles.

I just noticed now – in January 2020 – that I put the right most column on UPSIDE DOWN!!!!

STATS
Size –  72″ square
Number of blocks – 49
Time to make – 15 hours ish?
Fabric – Stuff from stash, though I think I needed more of the Tula Spirit Animal print (the dark green border) but otherwise there were a lot of mixed stash stuff from Cotton & Steel to BasicGrey to more Tula to Mister Domestic for AGF.
Binding Fabric – A Makower Christmas print from stash (that’s really not all that Christmassy)
Backing – Not sure, something from Fabricland!
Threads – Isacord
Batting – 80/20 Hobbs Heirloom.
Quilting- An all over FMQ spiral!
