It’s sad to say, but Popular Patchwork will be no more after the June issue (pictured). I’ve enjoyed working with the magazine for five years as a writer, and then for a couple of years before that when I edited a sister title (that had a similar fate). It’s sad, as it just started appearing over here in Canada, but UK readers were saying it was becoming harder to find in the shops, and that does make you wonder how long they were planning to close it down and if print runs and distribution had actually reduced over the last few months.

It feels like they’re another victim of the market oversaturation issue that affected Free Spirit Fabrics and many online shops that I can’t even remember all of the names of. Pretty Patches magazine has also gone this year. There has been no official statement to say why this has happened, and why it is so quick, but the team has been efficient in alerting subscribers and making sure no one is out of pocket or neglected, which is good to see. I just hope that the editor, Emma, has something lined up.

British Patchwork and Quilting is taking over unpublished contributions, and their editor – Joanna – is a great lady, so I look forward to working more with her again, as I have in the past.
