A lot of workplaces suffer from a lack of organizational effectiveness. This is due in large part to Toxic workers and poor management. Some employers look for toxic employees. Others don't know how to spot them. Or, they don't know the problems they cause or how to handle them.

One toxic worker can bring down an entire organization. Several behavior types can be considered toxic including antisocial and psychopathic. Individual backgrounds also come into play. These workers display a long list of negative behaviors. Typical basic ones include talking about and mocking coworkers, trying to distract attention away from themselves, instigating, watching others work, provoking, etc.

The effects on the workplace are bad enough. Toxic workers affect productivity and turnover, which may or may not be reflected in stock prices. The effects can also carry into domestic lives and society. Some people don't take their problems home with them. Others do, and this can contribute to domestic problems including divorce rates. There's probably a correlation between divorce rates and housing shortages. Turnover has its internal costs. It also has external effects on things such as personal finances and credit.

Currently, management isn't always up to par. Some of the largest employers don't even look for candidates with degrees, let alone management degrees when filling management positions. And with all the people out there with degrees, that shouldn't be a problem.
