The Birth Narrative of Jesus is not a happy one. It is a sober one , an unwed young girl child engaged to an older man , pregnant with a child she didn’t want who was not her husband’s child. a young child is in threat of being killed by a crazed king who thought Jesus was going take his throne. a family that had to flee their home to protect said child and go into safety in another country. Nothing about this is joyful and celebratory . The only silver lining is because he escaped to Egypt he survived.
