Why do you need a study schedule?

Many students mention that they do not work by a Schedule for school or college exams. This might work for class tests, but will not help you clear COMLEX.

If you start preparing without a schedule, there is a high chance you give up half way or you lag behind, not completing the entire syllabus before the exam.

Having a schedule makes you sit and Prepare every day, going in an already defined path.

What kind of schedule works?

That totally depends on each individual. There are students who need to prepare continuously for days together before taking a break and there are those who cannot take up a lot of information at once. Make a schedule based on how you work.

If you have joined some prep course, they will help you with a custom-made COMLEX step 1 study schedule. If not, take a few days to prepare one before proceeding to prepare.

Give yourself enough time to prepare

Start early and give yourself enough time to prepare and practice for the exam. Usually, 8-10 hours of preparation a day is great. You might need to work this way for 3-4 months.

If you have more time, you will get lazy. If there is not enough time, you will again struggle and stress out.

What is the ideal work schedule?

Have a mix of prepping from good materials, practicing from question banks, using flash cards in spare time, and attempting mock exams occasionally.

• For the first 6-8 weeks, prepare individual areas, take up question banks in that respective area, and solve.
• Understand your weak points and tweak your preparation.
• Start taking mock examination from week 9.
• Analyze the results. Find out where you have lost marks and then work on those problem areas.
• Keep using flash cards anytime you are free, even while traveling to and from college. Flash cards help you recall important concepts and key areas

Take enough breaks

Take a break once a week and either relax or go out to be with friends. This is important to rejuvenate yourself and start fresh. Have friends who work for COMLEX like you and support each other all through the preparation phase. This competitive exam may leave you stressed. You can share notes, discuss difficult areas, and push each other forward.

Be prepared

Find out the COMLEX step 1 dates and register well in advance. You can get all required details from the COMLEX official website. Give yourself enough time, make a schedule that works for you, and do not give up until the end.
