Having multiple furry friends at home means double fun, double love and double snuggle with them. But with an additional of every pet there is an additional need for caring them on an individual level. There are certain pet owners who are quite circumspect about adopting a new doggie in their home because of this very fact.

One thing that makes them unsure about the decision is whether the new dog will be able to get along with other Pets. This is especially a concern if you already have a feline at home. But do not fret as there are certain dog breeds that are good with other pets. So why not consider getting any one of the dog breeds mentioned below and have a gala time with the multiple animal species in your household.

Brittany

This dog breed evolved as a gun dog in the early part of the 20th century. It came into existence when English vacationers blended their pointing dogs with native spaniels. They not only love to hunt, but also are great in mixing with other family species. The socializing skills of these dogs is so amazing that even if you have a caged pet bird they will watch her from a distance rather than hunting her. These dogs are also quite patient in front of cats and horses. The amazing part is that they can be trained to stand small creatures. But never ever leave them around loose gerbils as it is a temptation that they can hardly resist.

Bernese Mountain Dog

These dogs originated from Switzerland and were originally utilized as a general farm dog which included moving livestock in long distance travel and as drafters to pull loads from people. They are bred to work near other animals. Since they were not bred to wander or hunt, these dogs make good trail companions for you on horseback. The great thing is that they do not bother family cats or other animals. Due to their great concentration power they are not disturbed by every sparrow or squirrel that passes their way. You can even use them as watchdogs as they have eyes for every detail and always look at the big picture.

Toy Poodle

These dogs are miniature versions of Poodle and are renowned to provide soft companionship to families and other pets in the household. Since these dogs are highly athletic they chase other pets for fun but never hurt. These dogs have been bred to provide companionship rather than chasing prey. By teaching Proper Socialization Skills, these dogs can get along with majority of animal species. So train them not to chase your kitty or not eat the parrot and they will happily comply with your commands.

Golden Retriever

These dogs love the world that includes other animals too. They are athletic and sporty. Unlike other herding dogs that can be too bossy, they leave the pets on their own without disturbing them. They are also known for their feline friendliness. Even pet birds are safe in their presence.

English Shepherd

These dogs tend to be bossy, but they do take care of their family including the pets. They consider family as theirs irrespective of the animal species in the household. Originally they were developed for herding stock and carrying out general farm work and so they are good at chasing strange animals away from your house. But they are quite careful with the household pets and do not harm them. With proper socialization skills they can easily socialize with cats and be good to her.
