Your Skin is a reflection of your diet, your lifestyle and your choice of food you eat and drink. There are several bad habits knowingly or unknowingly you adopt in your lifestyle, which makes your skin look dull.

You can’t completely blame your genes or your age for how old you look today, but the reason is your diet and lifestyle.

There are several skin sins that you should avoid in your daily lifestyle to keep your skin healthy and beautiful.

1. Sleep Deprivation

Not getting proper sleep at night causes stress in our body, which can aggravate all skin conditions, including acne, eczema, and psoriasis. Sleep is the time when our body repairs the damage from the day, and interrupting that process will slow down cell recovery. It can alter the way blood flows to the skin, which can make your complexion sallow.

If you keep smoking, you will not only deteriorate your health, but you will also develop deep wrinkles and blotchy skin tone. According to research published in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, every decade of smoking results in a perceived extra 2.5 years of age.

3. Drinking too much

Liquor is a definitive aging one-two punch – it is high in sugar, which causes oxidative push, and drying out. Liquor strips your skin of sustenance.

Drinking more than one cocktail a day affects your skin. Alcohol increases the level of inflammatory agents in the bloodstream—which can bring up skin sagging over time.

4. Picking the wrong beauty product

Picking up a wrong beauty product without proper researching and consulting dermatologist can result in severe skin problems.

It is always important to know the type of skin you have, and what kind of product your skin require. This is the most common mistake people generally commit and thus have to suffer the consequences afterwards.

5. Tanning

Tanning may sound like a good deal to you, but trust me it’s not. To shield itself from continued exposure to the sun, skin thickens and produces melanin, the pigment that darkens cells.

Any pigment change from UVA or UVB light can bring about untimely maturing and increase the likelihood of skin cancer. And tanning beds can be even worse, since they emit concentrated UVA light, which penetrates deeper than the combination of UVA and UVB rays found in sunlight

Don’t forget to protect yourself by applying a broad-spectrum sunscreen and if you’re in the sun, re-slather it every two hours. And kindly do not use a tanning bed.

6. Continuous long use of cell phone

Just resting your face against your phone can cause friction, occlusion, and heat, all of which can affect your skin badly. Try to avoid direct contact of cell phone with your skin, rather use headphones for long talks.

7. Not washing your face at night

Your body’s temperature slightly increase while you sleep, which can enhance absorption of whatever already is on the surface of your skin. To avoid dust and other particulates getting absorbed in your skin, wash your face every night before sleeping.

8. Eating Junk food

High-glycemic foods causes rise in blood sugar, triggering a surge of insulin. The insulin stimulates oil-producing hormones called androgens, leaving you with pimples. Cut the junk, and you could see a change in skin inflammation (acne) in around six weeks. Instead, try snacks like peanut butter, nuts, and avocado—these healthy fats provide nutrients for the hair, skin, nails, and for basic metabolism.

9. Caffeine

Caffeine, present in teas, coffees, several soft drinks etc., often causes oxidative stress and dehydrate your body. They make you more thirsty than when you started.

Try to avoid caffeine in your lifestyle so that your skin moisture could remain intact.

10. Dehydration

Do you drink enough water everyday? if you still not sure about your answer then dehydration could be one of those reasons why you look older than you actually are, and sketched with wrinkles. Lack of this wonderful universal solvent, could dry your skin out. Dry skin is more susceptible to wrinkling than hydrated skin. You should drink about 8-12 glasses or about 2-3 litres of water everyday. It will keep your skin moisture intact and so that your skin could look more lively.

If you are able to avoid these aforementioned 10 sins in your lifestyle, then your body will automatically keep your skin healthier than ever. And the results will be glowing and healthy.
