1. Kesar Shrikhand


This delicious creamy sweet yogurt is prepared with low-fat curds and is extremely popular in the western regions of Maharashtra and Gujrat. Chilled kesar shrikhand along with hot puris can make it mouth-watering any time in the year.

Quick recipe:

Hang your required amount of curd for 4-5 hrs in a muslin cloth to make it free of water content. In the meantime, soak a few saffron strands in a spoon-full of milk. Mix the curd with required amount of sugar in a bowl. After mixing it well add the saffron milk and gently stir it. Put it in refrigerator for a few hours and serve it chilled by garnishing with roasted pistachio.

2. Gopalkala


Gopalkala can be served as a ‘prasad’ or as a sweet dish on this day. This easy to make dessert can be prepared within minutes. The main ingredients used to prepare it are beaten rice and coconut.

Quick recipe:

Soak the rice in water for 15 minutes. Heating ghee in a frying pan, add jeera, ginger and green chillies to it. Now pour soaked rice into it and add sugar (as per your requirement), finely chopped ginger, chilli and cucumber, and fresh grated coconut. Mix them well and the gopalkala is ready to serve!

3. Coconut Barfi


This is a low-calorie way to enjoy the sweetness of barfi as it does not require milk into its preparation! If you have grated coconut in hand, this is a very quick Recipe and can be prepared in minutes. You can also easily store it in the refrigerator for 6-7 days.

Quick recipe:

Fry some coconut shreds on a heated pan. Remove it after the coconut milk moisture gets settled. In another container, boil some water, with sugar. Then add the coconut milk into this sugar syrup and stir it until they get blended properly. Add ghee (a small amount of!) and cardamom powder to it. Take a plate with ghee smeared on it. Now pour the mixture onto it, and cut into squares once it turns cold. Here coconut barfi is ready to be served.

4. Kaju Katli


It is one of the easiest and gorgeous recipes to wow your friends and family. Once you try to make it at your home you will understand that it’s worth of my words! It’s an ideal festive recipe including Janmashtami. Let’s start the preparation.

Quick recipe:

Add dry kaju in the mixer grinder and don’t add water to it! Mix it well. Now boil water with sugar in a pan to make single thread sugar syrup. Add the kaju paste into it and spread with a spoon. Take a flat surfaced plate with ghee smeared onto it and transfer the mixture over it. Giving it your desired thickness, cut into a diamond shape and kaju katlis are ready to be served.
