The natural plant chemicals that could help you fight tooth decay-Study shows

There are a lot of products that can help your teeth. Today Oral Care Products contain a series of natural chemicals that stop the Bacteria that is harming your teeth and studies have shown that it prevents the tooth decay. This plant has a natural product that acts against the mouth bacteria that sticks to your teeth, in time becoming plaque. This plant stops the effects of bacteria, prevents the plaque build-up and also improves the general oral health and hygiene.

It is known as Chalcone. This compound is found in liquorice root. Researchers have done a series of tests, and it showed that the Chalcone blocks the operation of a basic enzyme that allows the bacteria to live and develop in the mouth. The name of the bacteria is Streptococcus mutans. Streptococcus mutans metabolizes sugars from the foods and drinks you consume and produces a mild acid that leads to the formation of plaque in the mouth. If you do not have a proper dental hygiene, this combination of plaque and mouth acid is fatal to the mouth, resulting in tooth decay.

During this study, the researchers have found that by blocking the activity of the basic enzyme, the bacteria can’t build the protective biological layer around themselves (known as biofilm). The plaque is bacteria that attached themselves to the teeth and in time have formed a biofilm. With the help of this compound, the protective layer of bacteria is not formed, thus the plaque is not going appear. Also, other oral care products that contain similar compounds help improve the dental hygiene. This study was done by a series of scientists and professors at the University of Edinburgh. The team figured out the 3D structure of the necessary enzyme, called Sortase A, which is the one that allows the bacteria to make the biofilm. With this, researchers identified how Trans-Chalcone is preventing the enzyme from functioning.

The researchers were delighted to observe the Trans-Chalcone was inhibiting Sortase A in the laboratory and stopping Streptococcus mutans forming the biofilm.  The study will be taken to another level and tested for consumer products. This discovery is highlighted by the potential of this compound of natural products. The future stands in the nature of both nutrition and also healthcare. We need to stop using chemicals to grow our foods and develop medications. The nature offers us all we need for our living. We just have to find it and use it.
