Choosing Between FUE And FUT Procedures, Which One Is Better For Me?

When weighing in the options to take for Hair transplant surgery, we are faced with numerous options and choosing just one becomes a task that is not easy to undertake. Offering the best hair transplant remains a key obligation of the medics. Follicular Unit Transfer (FUT) and Follicular Unit Extraction (FUE) procedures have made hair loss surgery quite popular. But key question still remains; which one is better.

FUT involves taking a strip of the scalp using a scalpel after which there are sutures which leave a scar. The hair follicles are then inserted by the surgeon into the recipient’s balding area. The recovery period for FUT is about 2 weeks and will require the stitches to be removed by medical personnel after the wound has healed.

FUE on the other hand involves harvesting individual hair follicles and manually placing the harvested follicles into tiny slits in the balding area. Because individual follicles are removed, only small, pin-like scars will be left on the patient. These scars are so small that they are almost invisible. As no stitch removal is require, recovery normally takes around 7 days and there is no need to go back to the hospital.

Take a look at this table for more differences between the two procedures.

At Hair Transplant Abroad we believe that the best procedure should be one that is less intrusive and allows a fast recovery. This is why we offer the best Fue Hair Transplant surgery in collaboration with our very experienced doctors in India. The minimal invasion used in the follicle harvesting also ensures that there are no scars left behind ensuring there is no esteem issues in the future as people stare at any scars that may have been left behind (as is the case with FUT). Our FUE procedures are also cost effective and will cost you around INR 99.00 for scalp grafts approximately AUD 1.80 or INR 179.99 for body grafts, approximately AUD 3.25. This cost will cater for counseling, anesthesia administration, harvesting and slit making.

Before booking an appointment with an FUE surgeon, kindly be aware that hair transplant cannot be performed if:

  • You are under 25 years old and with continuing hair loss.
  • You have multiple medical conditions such as heart problems, diabetes or hypertension.
  • You have not yet seen a specialist to establish the reason causing your hair loss. You should get a diagnosis first before going for surgery.
  • If you suffer from a psychological condition such as trichotillomania which causes you to pull out your hair. This condition should be treated by a different specialist and not an FUE surgeon.

Now that you know what is required, do not hesitate to get a FUE hair transplant and permanently reverse your hair loss issues.
