The post-workout recovery world is filled with supplements that make massive claims but the only thing that you should base your supplement choice on is performance. If you feel that the product is helping you recover effectively and doesn’t affect you adversely, you should use it. BSN Cellmass 2.0 is a post-workout recovery supplement brought to you by the supplement giants at BSN – however, that only means that the standards to which the BSN Cellmass 2.0 will be upheld will be higher!

Let’s check out this BSN Cellmass 2.0 review to see exactly how well it delivered on the effectiveness and value front.

Taste and Mixability:

Most supplements mix quite well with water and/or milk and the BSN Cellmass 2.0 is no different. Just throw the powder into your shaker, add the liquid and shake away – all done! There’s no chance of any issues in the mixing department and you get the results you want without too much trouble.

There are certain issues that you are likely to face in the taste department because the BSN Cellmass 2.0 is definitely not everyone’s cup of tea. Some of the flavors, like the grape, are just too overpowering and anyone who’s had that knows that you need taste buds of steel to get through that one. You’ll find that a lot of the BSN Cellmass 2.0 flavors are a bit too sweet.

The product contains Sucralose in what looks like an attempt to mask the disgusting taste. However, it doesn’t quite work all the time! Then, there are some flavors that are just fine – not too good, not too bad – however, not a very good showing for BSN Cellmass 2.0 as such!

Value:

The cost of the product is not wallet friendly! It costs around $37 for 50-servings, which comes out to about $0.74 per serving – not too bad right? Not exactly… add the fact that they suggest taking a serving before and after a workout and you’re stuck with a $1.48 bill every day. That can get extremely expensive for even the most avid bodybuilder so you might want to look at that aspect before jumping at the chance of getting BSN Cellmass 2.0 for your post-workout requirements.

The best price we found for a 1.09 lb tub (50 servings) was $30.29 at Amazon.com.

Effectiveness:

If you go by the label, there’s nothing better than the BSN Cellmass 2.0 out there when it comes to muscle recovery, creatine supply reinforcement and fatigue reduction after a workout. However, people have found the results to be slightly different. Some users found it to be mildly effective but nothing really intense in terms of improvement in recovery rate or strength. Most found that creatine monohydrate worked better individually than as part of BSN Cellmass 2.0.

As far as recovery is concerned, it’s quite similar to other brands out there in the market that contain the same elements but provide a cheaper price-tag. The thing that hits you the most is that earlier versions of BSN Cellmass 2.0 would come with their Creatine and Glutamine rating clearly mentioned as 3-grams and 1-gram per serving, respectively. Now, that quantity isn’t mentioned but the only difference between the older label and the new one seems to be the lack of information. The new one only says “proprietary blend”, which is 8.3 grams out of a 9.7 gram scoop, but the lack of effect seems to indicate that the right ingredients are present in wrong quantities.

Too little happening for too much money!

Side Effects:

If you can get over the taste of the BSN Cellmass 2.0, there are certain other small issues that you need to take into consideration. It tends to leave the mouth dry for a bit and if you are under-hydrated, you will definitely feel the effects. The other thing that people have noticed is that it can start acting up in the stomach if you are sensitive to the ingredients. That said, you should have a relatively safe run as long as you stick to the dosage and aren’t overly sensitive to the supplement. In case of any issues or symptoms, please consult a medical professional.

BSN Cellmass 2.0 – Our Verdict:

Truth be told, BSN Cellmass 2.0 is a post-workout supplement that really doesn’t deliver as the price and labelling would suggest. It seems to say all the right things and contains all the right ingredients, but when it comes to delivering, the effects aren’t quite there.

Most people who’ve used BSN Cellmass 2.0 have found it to be as good, if not worse, than other products with a much cheaper price tag. If you want a great creatine supplement, creatine monohydrate products are aplenty out there and the BSN Cellmass 2.0 is not one of the better ones amongst them.
