Unique Nonprofit Cancer Charity Organizations to Support

There are hundreds of nonprofit Cancer charity organizations across America working hard to raise awareness, support research and help cancer patients.

Some amazing cancer organizations you have likely heard of before, such as the American Cancer Society, Cancer Support Community (formerly known as Gilda’s Club) and Susan G. Komen.

And, there are many amazing cancer charities you might not have heard of before.

Cleaning For A Reason: Since being founded by the owner of a professional maid service in 2006, this organization has provided more than 17,000 free house cleanings for women undergoing cancer treatment. The cancer charity partners with more than 1,000 maid services across the U.S. and Canada that volunteer their time and services for cancer patients. (www.CleaningForAReason.org)

mAss Kickers: This cancer organization originally started as an advocacy movement through a Facebook group called “Tumors Suck!” The group was created by Dr. Eric Galvez, who earned his Doctor of Physical Therapy degree and was diagnosed with a brain tumor less than two years later. Afterwards, he went on to publish “Reversal: When a Therapist Becomes a Patient” and now helps others live a proactive life after an intimidating cancer diagnosis through the mAss Kickers Foundation and its volunteers. Alex’s Lemonade Stand: Alexandra “Alex” Scott was diagnosed with cancer before her first birthday. At the age of 4, this amazing young girl setup a lemonade stand in her parents’ front-yard – with the goal of giving all the money raised to doctors to help them find a cure for childhood cancers. That day, she raised $2,000. Sadly, Alex passed away at the age of 8. Today, her brave work and inspiration lives on in lemonade stands and fundraising efforts across the country each year. Casting for Recovery: Founded in 1996, this cancer charity has provided free weekend fly-fishing retreats for more than 5,600 women across the country. Casting for Recovery retreats – created by a breast cancer reconstructive surgeon and professional fly-fisher – also incorporate counseling and educational services for cancer patients.  (www.CastingForRecovery.org)
