Mircette Birth Control Pill an overview

Contraceptive methods are widely used by women who indulge in sexual activities on a regular basis and want to prevent any unplanned pregnancy. For the purpose of daily contraception, hormonal contraceptive methods have proven to be quite effective. Hormonal contraceptive methods include oral contraceptive Pills, rings and patches. Oral contraceptive pills are quite widely used in comparison to the other two, although contraceptive rings and patches are becoming popular as well. Oral contraceptive pills are divided into two groups based on the artificial female hormones present in them. Birth control pills containing two artificial female hormones of estrogen and progesterone are known as combination pills, while those containing only progesterone are known as mini pills or progesterone pills.

Combination pills, which contain both the artificial female hormones, give you protection against pregnancy in three ways. Mircette is one of the popular combination pills, and is widely used by women for preventing unplanned pregnancy. This combination pill consists of ethinylestradiol (artificial estrogen) and desogestrel (artificial progesterone) as its Active ingredients. With the help of these active ingredients, it works by tricking your body into believing that ovulation has already occurred, in order to prevent the production of an egg. It thickens the cervical mucus so as to prevent a sperm from entering your womb and fertilize a produced egg. This birth control pill also alters the womb lining, making it thick, so that an egg cannot attach itself with the womb and grow further.

Mircette pills are required to be taken once on a daily basis and at the same time as well. You need to take the pill along with a full glass of water, either with or without food. Each pack of this pill consists of 28 pills, of which 21 are Active Pills and rest of the 7 pills are inactive pills. You are required to start taking the active pills on the very first day of your periods for immediate protection. On finishing the 21 active pills, you are supposed to take the 7 inactive pills, during which you are likely to have your periods. If you miss out on starting Mircette on the very first day of your periods, then it is advisable that you use extra contraception such as condom for the next seven days.

If you miss out on any of the active dosage, you should take two active pills on the day you remember. If you miss out on two active Mircette pills, then you need to take two active pills for two days. But if you miss out three of the active pills in a row, you should throw away the rest of the pack and start it anew. Mircette can be bought in the dosage strength of 0.151 mg, either through a doctor’s prescription or through any of the registered online clinics. Usually, this birth control pill is well tolerated by women, but some can suffer from side effects of the pill. The side effects that women can suffer from include bleeding or spotting in between periods, breast tenderness, nausea, vomiting and headaches.
