7 Ways to Achieve Your Fitness Results - Guest Post

There are many obstacles on the path to Fitness results. You lose motivation, don’t have the time or simply don’t know how to get there. There are several factors you need to keep in mind when setting your fitness goals in order to achieve any kind of results. Read our 7 suggestions that can help you reach your fitness goals whatever they may be.
1. Be realistic about your goals
If you haven’t exercised in a while, don’t expect to have the energy for a 30 minute run right away. For starters, set small achievable goals. Small goals will make your obstacles look easy to conquer and you won’t end up feeling overwhelmed which can suck out your motivation. You can also set up long term and short term goals to organize your fitness workout. The American College of Sports Medicine and the American Heart Association recommends that adults need moderate intensity Exercising for a minimum of 30 minutes, 5 days a week or vigorous exercising for 20 minutes, 3 days a week.
2. Make it a daily routine
Of course, if you want to achieve any fitness goals, you need to find the time to do so. Exercising should become a part of your daily routine if you want any results. You can also make fitness part of your daily habit by making small changes in the ways you go about your day. Go to work by foot if your job is a 30-minute walk away. Take the stair instead of the elevator. Also, make a new diet plan to go along your fitness routine. Eating is your daily habit and the best diet plan should be a must in any fitness routine. If you’re trying to lose weight, cut on carbohydrates and sugars and increase the vegetables in your diet. If your goal is to build muscles mass, protein is a must in your diet.
3. Have fun along the way
To stay motivated, your exercising plan has to be fun. Your exercising plan should go along with your personality to be fun. Another way you can make exercising fun is by listening to music. A study published in the US periodical Journal of Sport & Exercise Psychology found that music increases physical endurance by 15% as revealed by the Brunel University's School of Sport and Education. The participants of the study listened to motivational music that included tracks from Queen, Red Hot Chili Peppers and Madonna and they’ve reported they had more pleasure with exercising as a result.
4. Don’t let challenges take away your motivation
Sometimes our work, life, and obligations can become so overwhelming that we can hardly find the time for ourselves. Set realistic goals and try to find the balance between your life obligations and your obligations towards your body. If, on the other hand, you suffer from an illness that is taking a toll on your ability to stay fit, know that there is a fitness routine for many health obstacles. For instance, patients with psoriatic arthritis were found in one study to benefit from a motivational exercise program. The psoriatic arthritis causes cannot be prevented with exercising, but symptoms can be reduced if you stay motivated to exercise.
5. Reward yourself
You can reward yourself with internal praise after each exercise session or maybe even with a healthy snack or a time off after you’ve achieved your daily goal. But speaking from a scientific point of view, exercising in itself is a reward. According to one study on the differences between brains reaction to monetary reward and the reward of exercising, scientists have measured that our brains’ reward system is activated after exercising rather than money. So after each excerising session, take the time to indulge in the pleasant feeling you get from reaching your daily goals.
6. Buy more exercise apparel
As silly as it sounds, a great way of making exercising a daily habit is by investing in new tracksuits and sneakers. Having enough exercising clothes is not just practical but you’ll be able to shape your identity around it. Putting your personal mark on the way you dress when working out will make exercising seem like a big part of your life and identity.
7. Don’t look at others
Trying to find motivation by comparing yourself to others is not the way to go when you want to reach your fitness goals. This is especially true if you are looking at pictures of perfect bodies of athletes as your inspiration. Look at yourself as a unique individual on a unique fitness path.

Achieving fitness results is easy once you get motivated. Fitness should not be an afterthought in your daily routine or a burden you have to endure. Exercising should be a part of life just like eating, working and sleeping. Your life and health depend on it. Take these 7 tips as rough guidelines for reaching your fitness goals.
