Here’s something that surprised me. Reading John’s first bestseller, I realized that I am more from Venus than from Mars! Explains a lot, eh? Not your TYPICAL MAN.

So what in the universe am I doing as part of a “man panel” talking about what is in the hearts and minds of men??!??!?

Well, my gender is male. I am attracted to women. I have a heart and mind. And I represent an aspect of the spectrum of what it means to be a man in relationship with a woman.

So does John Gray. And so do Evan, Gay, Hunt, Ken, Troy, Cary, Devon, Johnny, Matthew, Dave, Bruce, Ken, Chris, Eli, Larry, Benjamin, and Lion.

And while men do get an often well-deserved rap for “mansplaining” there’s a difference here. We were asked to open up, to reveal and be authentic about our experiences and viewpoints.

I’m expecting as I listen than there will be ways that we see love and relationships DIFFERENTLY. And this is the key bit of suggestion I have for you if you listen:

If something strikes you as potent, revealing, and perhaps core to what you’ve wondered in the past, ASK A MAN OR TWO:

“I listened to this man on a panel say ____. I am curious whether that is your experience, too, or if for you is it something different?”

Certainly for me that kind of question has the potential to build deep intimacy.

I’ve heard way too many times that “All men want ____” when that’s not really exactly what I want! So ASK HIM! (And yes, ASK HER, too.). Let’s agree to not assume that anyone speaks for “all their gender” AND also that there is great value in realizing and exploring what IS true for you, me, and we.

A series of “reveals” like The Man Panel offers us all a chance to learn explore WITH EACH OTHER ways we want to relate, engage, love, laugh, play, and co-create a life together.
