How to Have a Winning Mindset

It’s no secret that most people who are successful have a Winning Mindset and are motivated as well as driven. Is this the type of mindset that you have, or have you found that you’re not as driven as you’d like to be? For anyone who wants to have a more “winning mindset” for themselves, the key is to actively work toward change. By doing so it’s possible to adopt a winning mindset that is more driven towards success in all aspects of life. To help you work towards this this goal, some simple tips on how to adopt a new mindset are listed below.

Tip 1: Determine What Your Reasons are for Wanting Change

The first and most important tip is to become familiar with why you want to see yourself succeed. While there might be many, take some time to write out your top three. The first should be why you’re doing this for yourself while the other two should be any other reasons why a winning mindset is important to you.

Tip 2: Become Familiar With Your Goals

Creating a winning mindset is not something that happens overnight for most people. It takes time, a lot of self-involved change, and a careful focus on goals. When you write out what your individual goals are, start with those that are immediate before listing those that are short-term and long-term. How will you accomplish these? Perhaps the first goal is to start reading success-based books or listening to audio tapes of successful professionals on your commute to work. Your long-term goal might be to finally jump start your career by speaking with your boss about why you deserve to change.

Tip 3: Determine How You Will Stay Accountable

The desire to have a winning mindset can often be put on hold when regular life gets busy and you have other things on your mind. This is why it’s beneficial to discuss your plan for change with a friend or family member that will actively support you. However, make sure this person is honest with you, doesn’t take excuses, and is actively involved with your life. With this you’ll know that they are supporting you in your quest for creating a new mindset towards success.

Tip 4: Begin to Visualize Your New Life

How will your life be different once you have the winning mindset that you so strongly desire? Will you have the job you’ve always dreamed of, courage to finally start your own business, or just more confidence towards making personal decisions? By taking the time to visualize these changes in your future, you will be lighting your fire so it burns bright. Just make sure you are regularly visualizing so you keep that flame lit, otherwise it could burn out with missteps or a busy schedule that lets you forget what your goals are.

Tip 5: Create a Plan for Failures

As with life, it’s always possible that things don’t go as they are planned. This is why it’s important to realize that you may not meet your goals towards developing your mindset as you desire. Fortunately if you are able to deal with these failures, such as being able to regroup or consult with a mentor or someone you trust, you can grow from those mistakes and become stronger.

Tip 6: Embrace Positive Inner-Dialogue

The inner-dialogue you have with yourself has to be positive in order for you to change the way that you think. Of course this could be easier said than done, especially if you’re someone who is more pessimistic and constantly putting yourself down. However, if you actively think positively and affirm to yourself that you are going to succeed, in time this will be your default way of thinking. For example, every time you wake up in the morning, tell yourself it’s going to be a good day and you’re going to do the best work in your office. As you continue thinking this way your brain waves will eventually change and immediately go to those that are more positive.

Tip 7: Continue Working Towards Goals

Even when you meet certain goals, such as making a quota at work or discussing a success-based book with a group, don’t stop working towards change. If you constantly aim towards making yourself better, you will continue growing and will eventually have the winning mindset that other people envy.
