10 Things to Share #41

Hi Friends!

Here’s my weekly post sharing about what’s going on in the world of RecipeGirl, as well as some fun links to things I’ve come across lately. So here it goes: following are 10 things to share with you this week- everything from recipes to shopping to a few fun articles and more. There are a few affiliate links included here and there. Enjoy!

Best Summer Pasta Recipes!

  • This recipe for Cheese Ravioli with Brown Butter and Fresh Tomato Sauce is a great way to jazz up store-bought, packaged fresh ravioli.
  • This Linguine with Tomatoes Basil and Brie is the best summer pasta recipe!  Here we have hot linguine tossed with fresh tomatoes, fresh basil and melted brie.
  • Another one for mac and cheese lovers:  Mac and Cheese with Roasted Tomatoes
  • Here’s a recipe that can help you use up garden zucchini: Pesto Spaghetti Zoodles with Heirloom Tomatoes. Your brain is tricked into thinking that it’s eating pasta, but you’re really eating zucchini… and it’s delicious!
  • Bow Tie Pasta Salad with Summer Vegetables is the perfect summer salad recipe!
  • If you’re looking for a lasagna that is lighter than most– and one that will use up some of your garden vegetables, then this Garden Vegetable Lasagna is for you.
  • This easy Spaghetti with Three Tomato Sauce recipe uses three kinds of tomatoes in its sauce!

Fun Shopping Finds:

  • I bought this cami in two colors (cheap). It doesn’t show your tummy if you wear something a little high waisted, and it’s great for layering. But I will say… you need to be thin to wear it. It’s snug.
  • This cute dress is a recent purchase of mine from Old Navy. It runs a little big, so size down.
  • Love this linen jacket– it’s so pretty to use as a light summer jacket.
  • This swimsuit is pretty and classy. And it comes in many colors!
  • I have ordered these boots from the Nordstrom sale. I hope I love them!
  • Totally loving these jeans. They’re really different!
  • The sleeves on this top are gorgeous!

Instagram accounts to follow:

  • Follow @withlove.faye for daily tips on managing life and mental health.
  • Follow @EasyFamilyRecipes for easy meal ideas using 10 ingredients or less.

What I’m watching and reading:

  • I watched the movie: 80 for Brady on Apple TV! It was kind of silly, but I enjoyed it. It’s actually based on a true story!
  • I have been listening to podcast interviews. The latest one I enjoyed was on the Fly on the Wall podcast (by Dana Carvey and David Spade). It was an interview with Will Ferrell before a live audience. If you are a Saturday Night Live fan, you’ll enjoy the interview for sure.

Fun Recipes I’ve spotted on the internet this week:

  • Baked Avocado with Eggs and Bacon sounds delicious to me!
  • This Bacon-Ranch Pasta Salad would be perfect to add to a summer barbecue!
  • Slow Cooker Honey Barbecue Chicken sounds like a good idea in this hot weather.
  • I want this Limoncello Cake– yum!

Here’s what’s going on in my life:

  • We had some good friends come into town this last week. We took them kayaking and fly fishing, grilled in the backyard and drank a lot of wine.
  • And… it was an expensive week. Our dryer wasn’t working, and our air conditioner stopped working too. Luckily, we were able to just get the vents cleaned (they needed it) and a new compressor for the air conditioner did the trick there. When it rains it pours, I guess!

Catch up on food-related news of the week:

  • New Cookbook Release: Ramen: 80 easy noodle bowls and broths by Makiko Sano. From Amazon: With slurpable noodles, umami broths and colorful customizable toppings, this unique comfort food can be endlessly adapted according to your individual tastes and creativity. Learn the basics of broths and noodles, plus a range of add-ons to adapt as you like. There are 80 easy ramen recipes accompanied by beautiful full-color photographs.
  • This summer, “dill” flavored cocktails are a thing!
  • OMG, M&M lovers will love Krispy Kreme’s new doughnut!
  • Giada De Laurentiis releasing her own line of pasta (plus some pasta recipes!)

Products I’m loving:

  • In an effort to combat the dumb woodpeckers that are pecking at our house, I have ordered fake owls, reflective ribbon and reflective scare rods. I’m hoping these things work, but let me know if you have any additional advice for getting rid of woodpeckers!
  • Look for Soy Vay Island Teriyaki Marinade in your market. It’s so good on salmon!
  • I just started using this Electrolyte Mix to add to water bottles. It is so much better for you than Gatorade. I drink it before I exercise. And I have the watermelon flavor, but there are other flavors to try as well.
  • Is there anyone with a beard in your house? My husband swears by this Beard Butter to keep his chinny chin nice and moisturized!
  • My newest face sunscreen obsession is Summer Fridays Shadedrops. It’s nice and light, and doesn’t feel sticky. And it’s keeping my face from getting sunburned!
  • Look for Strawberry and Jalapeño Crisps at Trader Joes Yum!
  • I just picked up this over-the-sink colander basket. It’s adjustable to the size of your sink, and it’s perfect for rinsing fruit and also for draining pasta.
  • I haven’t had a mandoline for a long time, so I finally picked up the OXO Mandoline. It’s perfect for slicing veggies thinly for salads (that’s what I love to use it for). But you can use it for so many more things.

Bake some scones this week!

  • These simple to make Lemon Poppy Seed Scones are best served warm out of the oven topped with a generous dusting of powdered sugar.
  • These Blueberry Lemon Scones are perfect for a lovely summer breakfast or brunch!
  • Berry Scones are a summery sort of breakfast recipe for you to consider.

Next Week’s Recipes:

  • On RecipeGirl: Chilled Tomato Soup, Marinated Feta with Cherry Tomatoes and Hot Blueberry Sauce
  • On RecipeBoy: Lemon Blueberry Bars
  • On RecipesForHolidays: 25 Delicious Peanut Butter and Chocolate Recipes for Peanut Butter and Chocolate Day!

Have a wonderful week!
