10 Things to Share #7

Hi Friends!

Here’s my weekly post sharing about what’s going on in the world of RecipeGirl, as well as some fun links to things I’ve come across lately. So here it goes: following are 10 things to share with you this week- everything from recipes to shopping to a few fun articles and more. There are a few affiliate links included here and there. Enjoy!

The Best Thanksgiving Side Dish Recipes:

  • Classic Cranberry Sauce is a super simple cranberry sauce with a little bit of added flavor. You’ll never buy canned sauce again after making your own!
  • These Soft Yeast Rolls are easy homemade rolls that turn out to be pillowy soft and tender. They’re addicting!
  • Orange Sherbet Jello Salad is made simply with orange jello and mandarin oranges.  And since it has orange sherbet in it, that makes it the best jello salad ever!!!
  • Quick and Easy Make-Ahead Gravy is an easy make ahead gravy that you can make from scratch, and you don’t need a turkey or the drippings to make it. I like to make this recipe in addition to the one I make with the drippings so we have plenty of extra gravy!
  • I think your dinner guests will be happy to have something on the table that isn’t heavily laden with cream or butter. Roasted Butternut Squash Gratin is a nice, lighter side dish that is still plenty filling and delicious.
  • Try my Classic Stuffing recipe to stuff your next turkey or to bake in a casserole dish. It’s my favorite go-to stuffing recipe!
  • Creamy Oven Baked Mashed Potatoes have additions of cream cheese, sour cream and butter to make these potatoes so smooth and creamy and rich.  Everyone loves these, and they’re always a bit hit.

Fun Shopping Finds:

  • This tartan plain ruffle top is so cute for holiday parties (sale!)
  • I get hot when I sleep, so I bought FOUR PAIRS of these shortie pajamas this week (cheap). They are super comfortable.
  • Faux leather pants are hot right now. Good price on these!
  • I bought this waffle texture robe for both of my guys as a holiday gift. It’s cozy, but it’s not as hot as most robes.
  • My latest boot obsession is these tall suede boots. I want them in every color!
  • I found a darling red dress that will be cute for holiday parties (sale!)
  • My favorite walking/running shoes ever are the No Bull Knit Runners. I’m on my second pair already. They’re both cute and comfortable. Thousands of five star reviews.
  • Love this cozy sweater. Heather blush and antique cream are gorgeous colors.

Instagram accounts to follow:

  • Follow The Domestic Rebel for droolworthy recipes.
  • Follow Sweet on Trader Joes for TJ’s product reviews!

What I’m watching and reading:

  • Yellowstone is back (Paramount)! We’ve been watching. I love it. Also, there’s a new holiday movie you must watch this year. It’s called Spirited, and it’s on Apple + (starring Will Ferrel and Ryan Reynolds). It’s a musical, and they do a great job making it funny and not cheesy. It’s a cute movie.
  • I’m still in the middle of listening to the podcast: Your Own Backyard- The Disappearance of Kristin Smart. Man, investigators really messed this one up. I haven’t gotten to the end, but it’s pretty clear who the killer is according to what I’ve listened to so far… and he evaded authorities for too many years.

Fun Recipes I’ve spotted on the internet this week:

  • This Owl Fruit Board is a cute idea for a Thanksgiving appetizer.
  • Sweet Potato Dinner Rolls look buttery delicious!
  • I’m thinking you could use turkey in place of chicken in this Chicken Mac and Cheese Soup!
  • Pumpkin Pie Flowers are so cute!
  • I think a Pecan Pie Cheesecake would be fabulous for Thanksgiving dessert.

Here’s what’s going on in my life:

  • We decorated for Christmas already! And I have a lot of Christmas shopping done too. Are you an online shopper? I think you can gather from my posts that I am definitely an online shopper haha! We like to leave some treats and a cooler full of drinks outside by the front door during the holiday season. The delivery drivers can help themselves.
  • I have a confession to make. I’m hosting Thanksgiving, and I ordered my turkey this year (from Whole Foods). I know you’re probably shocked to hear that, but I just didn’t want to worry about the turkey since I won’t have anyone helping me. So my hubby will pick up the turkey and bring it home already roasted to go with a bunch of fabulous, homemade side dishes and desserts!

Catch up on food-related news of the week:

  •  Newly released cookbook: Christmas Cookie Cookbook by Olivia A. Morris (everyone needs this one on their cookbook shelf!)
  • Doritos most popular flavors are now available as dips!
  • Avocado oil is the new “it” oil to keep in your pantry.
  • Sam’s Club starts wiener war by selling its hot dog combo for less than Costco.
  • Wendy’s is releasing a new Peppermint Frosty for the holidays.

Products I’m loving:

  • McGee and Company has a site-wide 30% off sale, and their kitchen things are lovely.
  • Buy your Pumpkin Pie at Costco for only $5.99! It’s actually very delicious, and it leaves time for you to bake other things.
  • My favorite bundt pan makes the most beautiful cakes!
  • This gingerbread ornament is adorable!
  • Look for Cinnamon Roll Drizzled Granola at Trader Joe’s. YUM.
  • OMG these snowman salt and pepper shakers are a must-have.

Bake this weekend

  • Apple Cream Cheese Coffee Cake for your holiday guests!
  • Pumpkin Pie Biscotti for coffee and tea dunking!
  • Pumpkin Bread Pudding (so delicious!)
  • This Pumpkin Pecan Skillet Cake is a very popular recipe this week!
