10 Things to Share #5

Hi Friends!

Here’s my weekly post sharing about what’s going on in the world of RecipeGirl, as well as some fun links to things I’ve come across lately. So here it goes: following are 10 things to share with you this week- everything from recipes to shopping to a few fun articles and more. There are a few affiliate links included here and there. Enjoy!

The Best Seasonal Dinner Recipes:

  • If you’re looking for something good to make for dinner that is perhaps seasonally appropriate, I have some good ideas for you. Roasted Pork Tenderloin with Sage and Apple is the most delicious meal to make for a warm and cozy fall dinner!
  • Pumpkin Manicotti with Béchamel Sauce is such a delicious and comforting meal for the cooler months of fall. One of my good friends says she makes it every single year around this time. The béchamel cream sauce is incredibly good with this pumpkin manicotti!
  • Chicken with Cider and Bacon Sauce is one of our favorite recipes to make for dinner. Serve the sauce over the chicken and you’ve got yourself a yummy, quick, healthy chicken dinner.
  • Pork Chops with Creamy Apple Cranberry Sauce turn out moist as can be, and they’re topped with a very flavorful and velvety, cream sauce. The creamy apple cranberry sauce that goes with these pork chops is where the decadence comes in.  Cream cheese is added to sautéed onions and apples, along with apple cider and dried cranberries. The sauce pairs perfectly with pork chops!

Fun Shopping Finds:

  • I bought this cute puffer tote bag to use for a flight I went on recently. It was large enough to fit my computer and a bunch of other things, and I was able to tuck it under the seat too.
  • This adorable sweater is on sale, and I want it in every color.
  • If I lived full-time in a cold place, I’d be buying these super cute boots for this season. They look so comfy!
  • I DID buy these wedge booties for fall/winter. I got them in black. So cute and comfortable!
  • This cozy henley t-shirt is perfect for our (milder) winters in Arizona. I bought it in both pink and blue (and it’s on sale!)
  • I spotted a cute flannel holiday shirt that you can buy for your dog (and they happen to have matching patterns for humans too!)
  • The colors available for this puffer coat are SO PRETTY. I can’t even decide between bright magenta, lipstick and electric blue!

Instagram accounts to follow:

  • If you grew up in the 70’s or 80’s, you should be following Grew Up in the 70’s and 80’s. They share super funny memes that we can all relate to.
  • Follow The Holderness Family for great comedy bits.

What I’m watching and reading:

  • I finally started watching House of the Dragons (prequel to Game of Thrones) on HBO. It’s good… it’s confusing (so many characters!)… and it’s pretty hardcore violent, etc. I like it so far, but it’s a LOT.
  • My husband and I listened to the audiobook: Shoe Dog by Phil Knight (founder of NIKE). It was fascinating to learn what he did and how long it took to create the company. The book details the building of the Nike brand, from importing Japanese shoes to being part of a federal investigation.

Fun Recipes I’ve spotted on the internet this week:

  • Lemon Cream Cheese Muffins look pretty delicious!
  • Ground Beef Taco Dip is perfect for Game Days!
  • Hello Cheesy Baked Asparagus with Bacon!
  • The next soup I make is going to be this White Lasagna Soup– YUM.
  • I have made a lot of fudge recipes over the years, but this Cranberry Pistachio Fudge looks pretty amazing!
  • I’ll be making this Old Fashioned Butterscotch Pie for Thanksgiving!

Here’s what’s going on in my life:

  • It snowed… a lot! For our last couple of days in Oregon, we got hit with a pretty big storm with big, fat fluffy snowflakes and a half foot accumulation on the ground. I’m glad we got to see a bit of that before heading to Arizona for the winter.
  • I had a birthday. It was kind of uneventful and relaxing, but that’s okay. I’m happy I’m still around!
  • I’m back in Arizona! It’s a pretty boring 17 hour drive from Oregon to Arizona, and we stayed a night in Hawthorne, Nevada along the way.
  • Arizona has perfect weather right now. The high temps are high 60’s to low 70’s. It’s a nice place to be in the winter! We’re busy unpacking, settling in and getting ready to host a bunch of relatives for Thanksgiving.

Catch up on food-related news of the week:

  •  Newly released cookbooks: Go-To Dinners: A Barefoot Contessa Cookbook (by Ina Garten) is on my holiday wish list. I’m sure you’re aware, but Ina’s recipe are always really great! The Complete America’s Test Kitchen TV Show Cookbook 2001–2023: Every Recipe from the Hit TV Show Along with Product Ratings. I’m a major fan of ATK TV show and their recipes. I have so many of their books, so I’ll be getting this one too.
  • Do people use cookbooks for cooking or just reading?
  • Here’s an article explaining why your favorite products get discontinued.
  • We’re in the midst of rising inflation, but some grocery stores are cutting the cost of holiday foods to help consumers.

Products I’m loving:

  • This water bottle crossbody bag would be a cute gift for those who like to walk or hike.
  • Look for these phyllo crisps to keep on hand for entertaining during the holidays. They might be available at your local market, but they’re also on Amazon. I had them at a friend’s house, and they are delicious!
  • If you’re looking for an adorable mixing bowl, I’ve found one.
  • I came across this personalized cookie stamp made with your family name. What a lovely stamp to buy and use to make cookies for gifting!
  • We all know someone who is obsessed with Pickleball, right? Pickleball is Life (book) was just published on November 1st. It would be a fun gift for the Pickleball-crazed person!
  • Look for Pumpkin Rolls at Trader Joe’s. They come in a tube, and they are the most wonderful pumpkin-flavored cinnamon rolls with pumpkin spice icing!
  • I spotted this Oreo Holiday Cookie House at Walmart the other day. I’m thinking it would be a cute alternative to making the classic gingerbread house!

Bake this weekend

  • Cranberry Vanilla Scones for breakfast.
  • Pumpkin Cornbread to go with chili or soup.
  • Dutch Apple Bread to use up your fresh apples.
  • Cranberry Bliss Bars (a Starbucks copycat recipe).
