Point Loma Sangria

Point Loma Sangria is a delicious and refreshing, fruity white wine Sangria recipe!

Point Loma is a region of San Diego, California that is near the coast (and the airport). It’s where we bought our first house and raised our son for a couple of years. I was a member of the Junior League of San Diego in those days. And one year we assembled a cookbook- California Sol Food as our fundraiser. That cookbook included all kinds of San Diego favorites, and this Point Loma Sangria was one of them. It’s a great cookbook, and if you’re a Junior League cookbook collector then you’ll especially love it!

Ingredients needed for White Wine Sangria:

  • bottle of dry white wine
  • apple juice
  • Triple Sec
  • white sugar
  • orange
  • lemon
  • lime
  • raspberries

How to make Point Loma Sangria:

The complete, printable recipe is at the end of this post.

In a large pitcher, combine the wine, apple juice, Triple Sec and sugar.

Add the fruit slices and raspberries. Use a wooden spoon to press the fruit against the side and bottom of the pitcher to release the juices.

Chill, covered, until serving time. The flavor of the sangria is enhanced the longer the wine is allowed to chill. It’s okay to make it in the morning and serve it later in the day.

Add ice just before serving. For large parties or groups, double the fruit and use in an ice ring to float in a punch bowl.

There’s actually nothing about Point Loma that says, “Hey, we always drink this sangria!” I’m sure the person who originally shared the recipe to be included in the cookbook just gave it the name because they happened to live in Point Loma. Regardless of the name, it’s a darn good white wine sangria. It’s super simple to make, and it makes a nice, refreshing, warm-weather cocktail. Enjoy!
