After you remove and and clean your existing nail polish you can apply a base coat, that will help your polish stay on longer.
Wear a solid color varnish. The number of layers you need depends on the color, but try to ensure that your color is uniform and opaque. Since it creates a very busy effect, it may be a good idea, to stick with a soft colour.
Wait until the color dry completely. Just to be sure, you will probably want to wait a few minutes longer than usual.
Paint a layer Shatter based on color when it is completely dry.
Now relax and wait. Some shatter nail polishes starts to crackle the second they touch your nails, but others may take a little longer to see the results.
Once the shatter started to crack the way you want to look, go over your nails with a topcoat. This may protect your nails and your manicure to last more before it starts chipping.
