Lip scrubs are such fun. The combination of sweet sugar and conditioning oils makes a wonderful base for creative customization. This Pomegranate Lip Scrub uses a splash of Flavor Oil and a pinch of Pearlescent Mica to give it a special twist. Inspired by the sweet-tart flavor of fresh pomegranate, you'll love exfoliating your lips with this quick and easy recipe.
Our scrub starts off with Organic Cane Sugar. The fine grain and gorgeous natural color of this sugar make it one of our favorite exfoliants for a lip scrub. We used a pinch of Rouge Flambe Mica to give the scrub an enticing coral color, but you can absolutely leave the scrub naked too. It will look beautiful either way.
Antioxidant-rich Pomegranate Oil is the star of the show in our carrier oil blend. This amazing ingredient is prized for its anti-inflammatory properties and rich conditioning benefits. We blended this precious carrier oil with Apricot Kernel Oil. Apricot has a light texture that gives the blend a smooth, delicate base. A touch of Castor Oil gives the scrub a slick and slippery feeling that is reminiscent of a favorite lip gloss.
We scented our scrub with a splash of Pomegranate Flavor Oil, which has a tart, candy-like scent that makes the scrub extra yummy. If you prefer to use something plant-based, you can substitute a few drops of our Cherry Plant-Based Fragrance Oil. (Please note that the Cherry Plant-Based Fragrance Oil should be used at a maximum of 1.27% per IFRA standards.)
If you'd like to customize this recipe, just swap out the color and scent. You can use any lip-safe Mica in this formula to give it a custom color. The Flavor Oil can also be substituted easily by swapping it from another one of our delicious scented Flavor Oils. You can also try using a lip-safe Essential Oil or Plant-Based Fragrance Oil, but you'll need to make sure to adjust the amount in your recipe based on that ingredient's specific usage rate.
This recipe can be doubled or tripled to make larger batches. If you scale up from there, just make sure to keep an eye on your ratio. The recipe may need to be adjusted if made it very large batches. As for shelf life - Pomegranate Lip Scrub should be fairly stable while in its package. Before it is opened, it should last for at least 3 months. Once it opened, it should be used up within a week or so. To extend the shelf life of this product, consider adding a preservative. Pomegranate Lip Scrub
Makes 2 1/2-ounce jars
Ingredients
- 2 tablespoons Organic Sugar
- 2 teaspoons Apricot Kernel Oil
- 1 1/2 teaspoons Virgin Pomegranate Seed Oil
- 1/2 teaspoon Organic Castor Oil
- 1/8 teaspoon Pomegranate Flavor Oil
- 1 pinch Rouge Flambe Mica
Directions
- Combine ingredients in small mixing bowl and stir well.
- Transfer to jars and seal with lids.
Usage & Packaging
