The parental role is very important in developing speech and Language in children with delayed speech and language. Delayed speech may be associated with any disorder like hearing impairment, mentally retardation, cerebral palsy,autism, ADHD or developmental expressive delay,developmental receptive delay,developmental language delay.

Whatever causes behind delayed speech and language, the treatment approach involves major role of parents.

How parents can help child to develop their speech and language at home :-                     

Whenever any parents feel that their child is not understanding or speaking them. Immediately they should take actions in term of consulting nearby speech and language pathologist. Mostly parents assume that their child is playing in himself or herself without making any sound. They think he/she is fine. When they call him or her,child doesn’t give response.

In such condition, don’t waste your time. Get the opinion of your doctor. Irrespective of child age, some parents think he or she is too young to consult doctor for speech and Language Development. Although child is physically perfect and seems happy,enjoying television music,rhymes. Parent thinks he will speak when he will be grown up. This is not correct way. If child is not looking at you while calling his name and not speaking even a single word at the age of 18 month. Then, he needs medical attention. Either get hearing test done and take doctor opinion. Don’t worry about speech and language development. You can identify any delay speech as soon as possible. That will be helpful in filling the gap with some approaches.

Easy steps for speech and language development-                       

If we talk about speech and language development, then intensive stimulation plays major role. Where parents should keep talking to their kids.

1- Give more emphasis on key words-

Here, parents should speak key words repetitively. They should use visual cues for speedy improvement. For example-parents are saying, baby you hungry! You want milk? Here in this example they must emphasize on milk. They should show the bottle of milk while saying milk. So, child will more understand and learn that is milk.

This example explains how auditory and visual stimulation simultaneously is helpful in developing speech and language. As more as you provide stimulation in both speaking and showing that results in fast speech and language development.

Likewise example of milk, give each and every stimulation at home that may be for home items,utensils, family members by pictures. These are very few examples parents need to be very creative.

2-Your facial expressions also play major role while speaking to child.

Show your lips or face.Play with your kid and make him sit in your lap, keep his face towards your face and say words in playful way.

3 – Spend more time in playing with their child.

During playing, keep saying all activities whatever you are doing at that time.

For example – if you are playing cricket, then talk about Ball, throw,hit, out.

Gradually you will see how child starts understanding and starts sounding. That feeling really makes parents happy.

There are some based solutions also available by which parents can achieve speedy development of speech and language at home. These solutions give real stimulation in term of auditory and visual simultaneously which is very important for speedy development of speech and language.
