Pav Pattice | Mumbai Street Style Masala Pav Recipe

Pav Pattice or Mumabi Street Style Masala Pav Recipe is a popular chat food that can be called as a cousin to Vada Pav, the famous Mumbai street food. In this version, instead of the vada, we stuff it with a pattice and use different set of chutneys.

If Vada Pav is a popular Street food in Mumbai, they have another version that is as sinful as this vada pav. Pav Pattice or Masala Pattice Pav is made with Pav bun stuffed with Tikkis or Pattice. So it is a burger made with ladi pav stuffed with pattice, chutneys along with sev and onions.

The chutneys used in this Masala Pav Recipes are the sweet tamarind chutney instead of green chutney. It uses wet garlic chutney instead of dry garlic chutney. So they use aloo pattice instead aloo bonda. Inaddition, Pav Pattice also has onions and sev for crunch. So what you finally get is a crunchy, spicy Indian style burger made with Pav Bun.

I adapted mine from Vaishali when she had posted this on her space. Infact most of the recipes I made for the Mumbai Street food were inspired from her different street food she had shared.

I had made Pav Bhaji, Cheese Pav Bhaji, Cheesy Masala Pav, and Kanda Bhaji Pav. The highlight was the Lahsun ki chutney. This Pav Pattice is my choice for P in the A to Z Every Family Dinner Ideas.

How to make the Pattice

Pressure cook the vegetables and mash them well.
Transfer to a bowl and add the rest of the ingredients listed and mix well.
Make sure the potato dough is lump-free and dry.
Divide the mixture into equal portions.
Make each portion into a round ball and flatten to make a patty.
Fry on a nonstick pan with little oil and make sure the patties are crispy.

Assembling the Pav Pattice

Slit the Pav/Bun and lightly toast it on a griddle with butter.
Take the top slice and apply a generous layer of garlic chutney all over.
Now apply sweet chutney on the bottom layer of the Pav/Bun.
Place a Pattice on the bottom layer.
Next place a handful of sev, along with onion on the Pattice, and press the Pav to close.
Pav Pattice is ready to eat.

Points to Note:

These patties are quick to make and you don't require any binding ingredient to make the tikkis. However, you always use corn flour, bread crumbs to make these into proper cutlets too.
We can even deep fry the patties if we want.
