SHOULD ANTHONY FAUCI RESIGN FOR MISLEADING THE NATION?

 Doctor Anthony Fauci

Republican lawmakers are calling for Dr. Anthony Fauci to resign, amid his litany of shifting views on the coronavirus, its creator, and his position on an investigation into the Wuhan Institute of Virology.

Fauci is coming under attack from congressional Republicans who point to his statement that the NIH assigned $600,000 for the Wuhan Institute of Virology to study the chance that bat coronaviruses could be transmitted to humans.

He told members of a House Appropriations subcommittee on Tuesday that the money was given to the lab through the nonprofit EcoHealth Alliance and financed a “modest collaboration with very respectable Chinese scientists who were world experts on coronavirus.”

However, Fauci emphatically disputed that the money went toward so-called “gain of function” research, which he defined as “taking a virus that could infect humans and making it either more transmissible and/or pathogenic for humans.”

Fauci clashed with Sen. Rand Paul earlier this month when the Kentucky Republican thrust him on whether the federal agency he heads helped fund the “gain of function” study at the Wuhan Lab.

“Sen. Paul, with all due respect, you are entirely, entirely and completely incorrect, the NIH has not ever and does not now fund gain of function research in the Wuhan Institute,” Fauci announced throughout the May 11 hearing on Capitol Hill.

Paul began to say: “Government scientists like yourself who favor gain function,’’ though Fauci interrupted, “I don’t favor gain-of-function research in China.

You are saying things that are not correct,” Fauci said.

Rep. Warren Davidson (R-Ohio) proposed the Fauci Incompetence Requires Early Dismissal Act at about the same time, saying in a statement, “Dr. Fauci represents everything that President Eisenhower warned us about in his farewell address: the scientific-technical elite steering the country toward their own ends.”

“Under Dr. Fauci’s guidance, Americans have lost confidence in the National Institutes of Health and the Centers for Disease Control, leading to confusion and serious government overreach that has threatened Americans’ livelihoods and freedoms,” Davidson said in the statement.

Rep. Guy Reschenthaler (R-Pa.) announced this month that he found that the Obama administration funneled $1.1 million to the Wuhan lab through the EcoHealth Alliance, further calling for the top scientist’s dismissal.

Reschenthaler further explained that he’s bothered by Fauci’s mixed messaging on mask-wearing and his questionable reports on pandemic safety precautions and thinks the doctor should step down.

“He has been wrong, intentionally deceptive, and inconsistent throughout this entire pandemic. A few examples of Fauci’s failures include: claiming there was very little risk to Americans in January of 2020, opposing President Trump’s China travel ban then crediting it with saving lives, and wrongly predicting an explosion of cases in Texas after Gov. Abbott lifted the state mask mandates,” Reschenthaler announced on Tuesday, according to Fox News.
