Coronation of King Charles III – More than a British Affair

By DMI

Like it or lump it. The Coronation of King Charles III  on Saturday May 6 is the event of the year.  It  forms the vehicle for many interest groups to push their agenda because of the worldwide attention the coronation gets.

Monday , May the 8th is an additional Bank Holiday in the UK because of the Coronation.

Charles II saw in the Restoration  of the Monarchy with the establishment of the House of Commons and House of Lords. Ever since then the Monarchy have deftly kept out of politics while seeking to serve the best interests of the United Kingdom.

King Charles III is about the most prepared and seasoned person to ascend the throne judging by his wide and long experience in affairs dealing with the Monarchy.

The weekend of this Coronation will see great levels of activity with virtually every territory on earth having a delegate for the event. My little ones school didn’t miss out with a mufti day celebration having lots of activities by the PTA at close of school day.

Interestingly, the Monarchy is involved in the championing of mental health awareness and may well have helped raise the profile of mental health advocacy.

Alongside the Coronation of the King will be the Coronation of the Queen Consort. Perhaps a lesser known affair.

As arguably the monarchy with the most consenting public and coincidentally the most real power, it is going to be a very memorable week with loads of events in various communities around the country and probably outside. King Charles III was already greeting wellwishers in Central London hours ahead of the Coronation ceremony. The last Governor of Hong Kong was already bemoaning the Chinese choice of delegate to the Coronation ceremony.

There is great store in the proclamation “God save the King”
