This is the day you’ve been waiting for! It’s normal to be a little nervous and excited… and then even more nervous as the clock ticks down! You are in great hands and you’ve thoroughly done your research. The nerves are nothing more than human nature.

Have a shower when you get up, if you’d like. However, do not apply any make up or nail polish. Do not put on any jewelry. In fact, it is a good idea to leave all jewelry and other valuable items at home. The clinic cannot be held responsible if they go missing.

At the clinic you will be met by the nursing staff. There is a standard and streamlined admission process to go through.

You will be visited by your surgeon and/or anesthesiologist. He/she will check on you, run-through the plan for the day, and see if you have any last minute questions

From there, you wait and try to relax until you are taken into the OR. Sedatives are often provided to help with the relaxation.

You will wake up resting comfortably. You will have a recovery room and a nurse that is trained to take excellent care of you until you are ready to go home. Some patients leave the same day and some spend the night. This will be discussed and decided in advance so you will know what to expect.
