Wuhan Coronavirus Pandemic is Here

There was reported 2,102 new cases of the Wuhan Coronavirus on Friday, bringing the total to 11,791. The was also 45 reported deaths in Hubei and one person died in Chongqing on Friday, as the number of fatalities reached 259. However, some researchers in Hong Kong estimated that there could be more than 75,000 people in Wuhan alone infected with the virus. Some possibly not going to hospitals out of distrust. There could also be numerous unreported fatalities simply because people may have been too sick to get to a hospital.

The epidemic seems to be growing exponentially in several major cities which indicates that they may only be a couple weeks behind Wuhan in scale. Foreigners are fleeing China in massive numbers which is only spreading the epidemic far and wide. Many diplomats and foreign embassy personnel are being returned to their countries. I suspect at this point, many have been exposed but what can be done other than to quarantine them. At least, the US is doing this but I am not sure how well it is going to work.

Reportedly, people arriving in Turkey were scanned with thermometers and sent home if they did not have a fever. In less than two weeks they are likely to suffer a massive outbreak there. It will be extremely lucky if it does not happen.

While there is significant concern over an economic downturn, this should not be the major concern. As I posted in my previous article, humans do not appear to develop immunity to the coronavirus as it is easy to catch a cold several times a year. So, once you have been infected, it may return again in a few weeks, or it may actually lay dormant in the body only to pop up again later. This viral illness may make its rounds for years and months to come, taking a few percent at a time.

So, now for the good news, possibly anyhow. One of the good things that we know about colds is that there are some things that can be done to help fight them. Colds and flu both seem to hit at a time of year when vitamin D levels are very low so start taking vitamin D3 to get your levels up. You will want to also be taking vitamin K2 along with it. I do not mean a paltry 800 to 1000 mg of vitamin D3 a day, you will need significantly more. Check with a nutritionist as doctors know very little about nutrition.

Next is vitamin C, it is a powerful virus fighter and immunity booster. It actually needs to be take on a schedule of about every 3 to 4 hours throughout the day as it gets quickly depleted fro the body.

For anyone older than 35 to 40 years of age, DHEA is important as the body produces lower amounts and it is an important stimulator of immunity. At the age of 69, I like to take 100 mg daily but those between 40 and 60 might want to take about 50 mg. Again, check with your nutritionist as there are some people and conditions where DHEA might not be good for other things.

Melatonin is well know as being something that your body produces to help you sleep but many do on realize that is also is important for immunity.

Elderberry is well known for its ability to help fight colds and flu. For that reason, it may be valuable in fighting coronavirus as well.

There are a number of other things that may be able to help and you can read about some in an older article that I posted.
