The Social Security Administration releases a brand new list of the top ten most popular baby names of the year. They have released the list of names for 2017.
Obviously, they cannot create a list for a given year until after the year is over.
The Top Ten Baby Names for Boys in 2017 were:
- Liam
- Noah
- William
- James
- Logan
- Benjamin
- Mason
- Elijah
- Oliver
- Jacob
Liam Ranked Number one in 2016, 2015, and 2014. Mason was number two in 2011 and 2012, number three in 2014 and 2015, and number four in 2013 and 2016.
James was rank two in 2016. Jacob was rank four in 2014 and 2015, and rank two in 2013. Noah was rank five in 2011 and rank four in 2012. William ranked number two in 2016. William was rank three in 2016, and rank five in 2009, 2010, 2012, 2013, 2014, and 2015.
Logan, Benjamin, Elijah and Oliver did not make the top five names for baby boys in the past decade.
The Top Ten Baby Names for Girls in 2017 were:
- Emma
- Olivia
- Ava
- Isabella
- Sophia
- Mia
- Charlotte
- Amelia
- Evelyn
- Abigail
Emma was ranked number one in 2008, 2014, 2015, and 2016. Emma was rank two in 2009, 2012 and 2013. Emma was rank three in 2007, 2010, and 2011.
Olivia was ranked number two in 2014, 2015 and 2016. Olivia was rank three in 2009 and 2013. Olivia was rank four in 2008, 2010, 2011, and 2012.
Ava was rank three in 2016 and 2017. Ava was rank four in 2007 and 2015, and rank five in 2008, 2009, 2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, and 2014.
Isabella was ranked number one in 2009 and 2010. Isabella was rank two in 2011, rank three in 2009 and 2012, rank four in 2013 and 2014, and rank five in 2015 and 2016.
Sophia was ranked number one 2011, 2012, and 2013. Sophia was rank two in 2010. Sophia was rank three in 2014 and 2015, and rank four in 2009 and 2015.
Mia, Charlotte, Amelia, Evelyn, and Abigail did not make the top five list of names for baby girls in the past decade.
