Why Liposuction is STILL the Most Popular Body Contouring Procedure

Did you let the summer slip by without enjoying your warm-weather activities? For too many people, things like boating and swimming get erased from the summer to-do list because of their embarrassment of excess Body fat. Wearing shorts and bikinis can sound like a nightmare when you’re ashamed of your appearance.

As we shape up for the transition to fall, it’s a great time to get thinking about your body goals. Don’t let another season go by where you let your unwanted body fat control your life. If you’re ready to feel confident about the way that you look, consider Liposuction at Advanced Aesthetics.

Why Liposuction?

There are a handful of procedures, both surgical and nonsurgical, that can address your excess fat—so why is liposuction considered to be the gold standard? The short answer is because it is effective and provides long-term results, but Surgery isn’t for everyone.

An ideal candidate for liposuction is someone who already practices a healthy diet and consistent exercise routine. This procedure is not a “quick fix” that can create a perfect, shapely physique on someone who is obesely overweight. If, however, you already partake in a healthy lifestyle and are within 20-30 pounds of your desirable body weight, liposuction may be right for you.

Nonsurgical solutions, like CoolSculpting, are a popular option for those who require only subtle changes. But with its use of cooling technology, CoolSculpting is only able to treat the chin, upper arms, abdomen, sides and thighs.

If you are seeking a more dramatic transformation, liposuction is the only body contouring procedure that can effectively deliver that. This surgical procedure can eliminate your unwanted fat on pretty much any area of the body, including the:

  • Neck
  • Chest
  • Back
  • Arms
  • Stomach/abdomen
  • Waist/sides/love handles
  • Hips
  • Thighs
  • Calves
  • Knees
  • Butt

How Does it Work?

Liposuction surgery can help you achieve the slimmer, more-toned figure that you desire by permanently removing specific fat cells. During an initial consultation, one of our experienced plastic surgeons will meet with you to discuss the areas of fat you would like to have eliminated.

We know surgery can be intimidating, so we also take the necessary time to explain the procedure and recovery period, as well as answer your questions and concerns. We know your aesthetic goals are unique, which is why we will craft a surgical plan that is just for you. Many of our clients choose to combine their liposuction surgery with other procedures, like a breast augmentation, to achieve the most optimal results. This is common and will be worked into your individual treatment plan if needed.

Your surgery will be performed at our state-licensed and nationally-certified surgical center. Before getting started, a special anesthetic solution will be applied to your treatment area(s) to help minimize the post-operative pain and swelling. By making inconspicuous incisions around your required treatment areas, your surgeon will be able to insert a hollow cannula to dislodge the fat. Once your fat has been dislodged, a tiny vacuum will then be used to suction the fat from your body. When your surgery is complete, you will be placed with support garments to help ease your swelling.

The liposuction procedure itself usually goes pretty quickly and you will be allowed to return to the comfort of your own home with just a couple of hours after surgery.

What are Results and Recovery Like?

Like most surgical operations, liposuction will require some much-needed downtime. While it will depend on your specific needs, most people recover for about three days before heading back to work and normal everyday activities. Initially, we suggest limiting any lifting, bending or straining, as these movements can cause your blood pressure to rise and could bring on complications. You can expect to gradually reintroduce strenuous activities, such as sports and gym workouts, after about three or four weeks.

During the recovery period, it is common to have some post-operative pain. This discomfort is generally pretty tolerable and short-lived, but we will provide you with a prescription medication to help ease the pain. Your surgery may be over, but your results are not final unless you heal properly. Following your surgeon’s care instructions, like wearing your compression garments, will be crucial in helping to control your swelling and maintain your newly-sculpted physique.

Many of our patients see results immediately after the procedure, but the final results won’t be noticeable until the initial swelling subsides. Once your body is fully healed, you will have the slimmer, tighter body you have been seeking. As long as you continue a healthy lifestyle of nutritious foods and consistent exercise, you can expect to enjoy your newly-contoured body for many years to come.
