The Art Of The Stunt Dummy

In today's post I would like to talk about how important it is to be a good Partner in your Training. I call this, "The Art Of The Stunt Dummy" because it is an art to be able to learn to move to simulate being attacked by someone (your partner).

The first thing you will need to do is to learn how the body reacts to attack. When a person strikes, kicks or attacks any area of the body, it will react and move in a certain way. As you learn how the body reacts and simulate that it will help your partner in his transitions from strike to strike to be able to learn the fighting techniques of each particular lesson.

To get an understanding of what I mean I have created a video clip at YouTube that explains this.

After watching the video can you see the importance of how knowing this can really help you and your partner to learn to apply Kung Fu techniques effectively?

This becomes really valuable later on when you are showing what you have learned to an audience, such as during a school promotion because it will actually appear to the onlookers that you are really hitting your targets at full contact because of the simulated reactions you are getting from your partner!

So be sure and spend equal time learning the "The Art Of The Stunt Dummy" along with your regular Kung Fu training ... it is invaluable and you will be glad that you did.
