Acne scars have always been a challenge to treat, as evidence by the numerous treatments available: chemical peels, Fractional Lasers – both ablative and non-ablative.  The most recent modality and the one we use the most at Celebrity Laser Spa is microneedling, enhanced with platelet-rich plasma or stem cell extracts.  The strategy for improving acne-scarred skin is generating new collagen and elastin and thickening skin in areas of thinned-out skin, which is what is found within acne scars.

Both fractional lasers and Dermapen microneedling provide benefits for improving acne-scarred skin but our experience with dermapen has outshone fractional lasers, both in terms of less downtime and side-effects, as well as better results.  Cost is also somewhat lower for dermapen.

The patient in the photo above has 3 treatments, with PRP and had a great result.  Most patients receive 3-5 treatments of dermapen.
