When I made this beautiful marinara sauce a few weeks ago, I kept some in the fridge to eat throughout the week… and it was around the same time that the Blogtastic poll took place and one of you mentioned that you liked my burger recipes. With that little bit of synchronicity, the pizza burger was born.
Oh, delicious, beautiful burgers… how I missed you. This one is CRAZY easy to make and it’s really the sauce that makes this burger. I did it that way …
Italian burger stuffed with mozzarella | No, thanks to Cake
Ingredients
- 4 oz. extra lean ground beef or turkey
- 1 Tablespoon. diced onion, heaped
- ¼ TL. Williams-Sonoma pizza seasoning
- ¼ TL. dried basil
- ¼ TL. dried oregano
- ⅛ TL. garlic salt
- 1 wheel Mini Babybel Light Mozzarella Cheese
- salt and pepper
- Cooking spray
- ¼ Cup Super easy marinara sauce or your favorite sauce
instructions
- Place the ground beef and onions in a small bowl.
- Add your spices and mix well.
- Take half of the meat mixture and form a patty. Place the mozzarella wheel on top.
- Top the mozzarella with the remaining meat mixture and seal the edges well. Place the burger on a plate and season both sides with salt and pepper (optional).
- Heat a grill pan, griddle, grill, or George Foreman grill and spray the pans with cooking oil before placing the meat on the grill. Cook the burger for several minutes on each side until cooked through.
- Transfer to a plate and top with warm marinara sauce.
Pizza burger stuffed with mozzarella
For 1 person
INGREDIENTS

1/8 tsp. garlic salt
1 wheel Mini Babybel Light Mozzarella Cheese
salt and pepper
Cooking spray
1/4 cup Super Simple Marinara Sauce or your favorite sauce
INSTRUCTIONS
1. Place the ground beef and onions in a small bowl.
2. Add spices and mix well.
3. Take half of the meat mixture and form a patty. Place the mozzarella wheel on top.
4. Top the mozzarella with the remaining meat mixture and seal the edges well. Place the burger on a plate and season both sides with salt and pepper (optional).
5. Heat a grill pan, griddle, grill, or George Foreman grill and spray the pans with cooking oil before placing the meat on the grill. Cook the burger for several minutes on each side until cooked through.
6. Place on a plate and top with warm marinara sauce.
7. Serve with your favorite side dish (I chose garlic spinach with laughing cow cheese). PS… Check out the gooey cheese below.
