Onion Soup Pork Burger

Sometimes I just crave a burger.

Since I was on Weight Watchers for the first six months of the year, I only ate chicken and turkey. Since I quit Weight Watchers, I just want beef!

I’ve eaten a few burgers over the last few weeks and have become a big fan of just skipping the bun. Wrapping the Burger in Bibb lettuce is really delicious, and I even ordered a burger at a restaurant where they brought it to me wrapped in iceberg. Both really worked, and if I’m honest I didn’t miss the bun at all… The burger is really about the meat and the toppings (for me that’s a little ketchup or maybe avocado). If you haven’t tried lettuce wrapped burgers, I would recommend it.

Tonight I wanted a real burger. I also knew I wanted to eat as healthily as possible… so here’s what I came up with (in the absence of lettuce leaves): I sautéed some asparagus and grilled some Roma tomato slices and it really came together! I also had a desire to prepare a fillet with the same bed of vegetables. Soon.

This burger is a total retro burger. My mom always made these when we were kids. I’m not sure if this is the exact recipe she used, but it definitely had all the flavors of my childhood that I remember…

Onion Soup Beef Burger | No, thanks to Cake

This recipe is a trip down memory lane for me as this is how my mother made burgers as a child.

Ingredients

  • 1 Lb. extra lean ground beef
  • 1 package Lipton’s Onion Soup Mix
  • 1 Tablespoon. reduced sodium Worcestershire sauce
  • Cooking spray
  • salt and pepper

instructions

  • Combine soup mix, Worcestershire sauce and beef in a bowl. Mix with your hands until all ingredients are well combined.
  • Divide the meat into four parts (about 110 g each) and form patties out of them.
  • Lightly season each burger with salt and pepper and prepare it however you like: grill, pan, grill – the possibilities are endless! Cook to your preferred temperature. I cooked mine on a George Foreman grill since my apartment complex recently banned grilling. I prefer my burgers a little more well done than most. It’s your burger – – make it your favorite way!
  • Serve and enjoy!
