In addition to smell, the pests are also attracted to sunlight. So you fly where there is light. If the sun is shining in your room and the window is wide open, this is the ideal opportunity for the flies to fly in.

And: A fly often attracts conspecifics. So if an insect has gotten lost in your house, others will quickly appear.

So if you have the feeling that more flies than usual are coming into your house, you should check whether you have food or drink leftovers lying around. Also, empty and clean all trash cans. Also check the fruit basket and/or the candy bowl.
