INEC kicks As Obi, LP Tender 18,000 Blurred IReV Sheets

Professor of Mathematics, Eric Uwadurgwu Ofoedu, yesterday, told the Presidential Election Petition Court (PEPC) that 18,088 blurred polling units results of the February 25 presidential election were uploaded to the INEC Result Viewing Portal (IREV) by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).

JAMB Pays CBT Centres N1.5bn

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has disclosed it paid a total sum of N1,478,416,000.00 to owners of non-JAMB Computer-Based Test centres nationwide for services they rendered during the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination.

JAMB made the disclosure in a statement on Thursday by the Director, Public Affairs and Protocol of the Board, Dr Fabian Benjamin.

Benjamin said it was only proper to promptly settle obligations as and when due so as to promote and sustain a cordial working relationship with partners who discharge their duties creditably.

“It is to be noted that most of the centres used for the examination are not JAMB-owned while some are ICT facilities of tertiary institutions.

“This symbiotic relationship between the board and the privately-owned CBT centres and others is collaborative in nature and is designed to ensure better quality service delivery and inclusiveness.

The supremacy battle between presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar, and former governor of Rivers State, Nyensom Wike, over minority leadership of the 10th House of Representatives climaxed yesterday.

Wike’s anointed aspirant emerged minority leader of the House, displacing Atiku’s choice.

LEADERSHIP Friday gathered that Wike’s favourite emerged through a consensus during a meeting of the PDP minority caucus at a prestigious hotel in Abuja yesterday.

Amotekun Arrests 17 Suspected Criminals In Ondo

The Ondo State Security Network Agency also known as Amotekun has arrested 17 people who were allegedly involved in various criminal activities in the state in recent times.

Specifically, the suspects were alleged to have been involved in crimes such as armed robbery, kidnapping, cultism, snatching, and dismantling of motorcycles among others.

The state Commander of the Amotekun Corps, Adetunji Adeleye, who paraded the suspects on Wednesday, at the headquarters of the command in Akure, the state capital, said the arrests were made in collaboration with other security agencies in the state.

He said, “Today, we have 17 criminals or suspected criminals and we have begun an investigation to ascertain criminal offences which they have committed.

“Findings have shown, that there has been a decline in criminal activities, especially those that have to do with neighborhood criminal activities like housebreaking, stealing among others within the state in the last one month.
