Before we get into my top 10 Skin care tips for glowing skin, here are some dermatologist approved skin care tips you should absolutely consider following for that natural glow!

According to Good Housekeeping, you should:

  • Apply sunscreen before you go outdoors.
  • Not smoke.
  • Use a self-tanner instead of traditional sunbathing.
  • Gently wash your face,
  • Stress less.

My Top 10 Skin Care Tips For The Ultimate Glow

Here are my top 10 skin care tips for the ultimate glow that I’ve been using for the longest time ever and have been working for me perfectly!

A little side note about my skin type:

  • I have sensitive skin.
  • Combination (dry on the cheeks, slightly oily around the T-zone and chin).
  • Rarely breakout, usually related to hormonal changes.
  • Heavy products can cause breakouts.

1. Use a gentle face wash.

Starting things off with what I believe to be the most important part of your skin care routine, your face wash.

There are so many facial washes out there, it can be very overwhelming to find what’s right for you!

I have had some terrible experiences with certain face washes that just completely stripped my skin of any natural moisture, and I’ve also had face washes that broke me out.

My all-time favourite has to be the Cetaphil for Sensitive Skin.

The formula states that it is gentle enough to go on babies, so if you have very sensitive skin, you might want to look into this one!

With a low price tag of $14, I’d say this one is also a budget-friendly face wash.

2. Go easy on the exfoliation.

Look up, “how many times should I exfoliate per week” and the response will leave you more confused than ever before!

Here’s what’s worked for me: Exfoliate 1-2 times per week. That’s it.

If you have sensitive skin, exfoliating more than once or twice per week could strip away moisture and cause inflammation for no reason.

Try exfoliating once per week and if you feel like you can add a second session to your week, go ahead and add it.

As long as you aren’t hurting your skin, you’ll reap the benefits.

3. AM Moisturizer and PM Moisturizer.

I make sure my skin is moisturized at ALL TIMES.

I heard about Cerave and their AM/PM moisturizing line back in 2016 and I have been hooked ever since!

If you’re not into heavy products and love the quick-absorbing, glow-boosting moisturizers, I beg you to try Cerave!

I use the AM for the morning and the PM before bed.

Might I add, I have NEVER broken out from using these two moisturizers.

4. Avoid prolonged sun exposure/Wear sunscreen when you’re outdoors.

One of my absolute favourite skin care staples is sunscreen!

The sun is pretty beneficial for our bodies but our skin has a different story to tell.

Unprotected exposure to the sun’s ultraviolet (UV) rays can cause damage to the skin and in extreme cases even cancer.

Find a sunscreen brand that’s light yet effective for your skin, as well as safe for our beautiful oceans!

5. Don’t touch your face.

One of the worst things you can do for your skin is touch it constantly throughout the day.

Think about everything that’s out there at any given second.

You’ve taken valuable steps toward skin care, why mess it all up by putting dust and dirt on your precious skin?

Be very conscious of what you do throughout your day, especially during times of stress.

6. Shine from the inside out by taking care of your nutrition.

My secret to getting that perfect skin glow all year round is my nutritional habits.

I eat fruit and vegetables every single day and to be honest with you, you could be using the best products out there, but if what you put in your body doesn’t match, you’re kind of wasting your money and time.

Fruits and vegetables are rich in Vitamin C, antioxidants, and water, things that you find in beauty products.

So why not consume fruits and veggies and double your results?

7. Hydration from the inside out.

I’m sure you’ve heard this many times before but have you tried drinking more water?

Water makes up more than 70% of our bodies. Our skin is the largest organ of our body. See where I’m going with this?

Water is an absolute necessity and priority if you’re looking to achieve that natural skin glow.

I drink about 8-10 cups on non-training days and 10-12 cups on training days.

Do you hate the taste of plain water? Here are some ideas to spice things up!

8. If you use makeup often, clean your brushes often.

Makeup brushes can have a lot of leftover residues that can end up on your precious glowing skin if you don’t clean them often!

Depending on how often you use makeup, try to wash them at least once per week or every two weeks.

Simply run some lukewarm water and hand soap over the bristles until the water comes out clean.

9. Sleep deeply and plentifully.

I will admit I am guilty of not always following this one, however, on the days that I do sleep fully and deeply, I wake up with the prettiest skin glow ever!

According to an article on Sam Health: “A study in the journal Clinical and Experimental Dermatology found that people who slept seven to nine hours a night had skin that was more moisturized and that could protect and heal itself better after being exposed to ultraviolet light compared to those who slept five hours or less.”

So make sleep one of your main priorities and the results will speak for themselves!

10. Kick stress and worry to the curb.

Studies have shown that chronic stress can be worse than cigarette smoking.

While it can be easier said than done, taking action toward a stress-free life will do more for you than glowing skin.

Try mindfulness practices such as meditation to maintain a centered and calm sense of being throughout your day.
