Being a tertiary cardiac centre, we regularly receive referrals from other hospitals and requests for second opinions especially when it comes to complex cases requiring complex interventions. An 86-year-old gentleman came to see consultant cardiologist, Dr. Al Fazir Omar for a second opinion when he felt some chest discomfort and that was when we found out that his case was not a simple one.

Due to the complex nature of this case, we sought his permission to broadcast this on live transmission through CTO Live Aid as it would be a great learning opportunity to many cardiologists around the world. The patient agreed and was happy to provide a learning experience to the medical fraternity. After an hour, this case was done to success partly due to the range of devices and advanced technology that we house, but most of all can be attributed to the heart team led by Dr. Al Fazir, Datuk Dr. Rosli Ali and Dr. Choo Gim Hooi who made it all happen.
