“I realized my dream to become an excellent interpreter is not going to happen because there are so many people out here in Los Angeles who are doing much better, “Jenia explains. “So, I thought, okay, what else can I do? How can I make an impact? What do I know that can serve other people and help me?” 

The answer was numbers. “Math has always been my strongest point,” she says. Jenia’s father, a train driver, had always emphasized the importance of math to Jenia and her four sisters.
