How To Tell If A Celebrity Page Is Real or Fake

it is not always easy to tell if a Celebrity’s Facebook Or Twitter Page Is Real or Fake. Entertainment fans these days like to connect with their favorite stars through popular social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter. If you ‘follow’ stars on Twitter, and add them as ‘friends’ on Facebook, you can get up to the minute insight on what these celebs are up to, along with sneak previews of their latest projects.

There are a lot of scammers and mischief-makers who like to set up fake accounts in the names of famous people. Sometimes they do this to drive traffic to other sites under false pretenses, but mostly they are just juvenile mischief-makers who seem to get a kick out of impersonating stars humorously. In some cases, they may also enjoy leading fans up the garden path.

How To Tell If A Celebrity Facebook Or Twitter Page Is Real or Fake

So, how can you distinguish between Real accounts and fake ones? In the first place, some Twitter celebrity accounts have a small icon next to the account name that says ‘verified’. This means the account holder has proved to the satisfaction of Twitter that they are the person named. Unfortunately, Facebook does not offer a similar facility, and many Twitter accounts have not been through the verification process but are nevertheless Real, which means you have to look for certain clues as to whether accounts are Real or fake.

The most obvious thing to look for is spelling mistakes in the name. Then, in the case of Facebook, you should have a look through the person’s list of friends. Real celebrities usually have family members on their friend’s list, so you should search through the list to try to find people who are relatives, i.e. who share the same surname. Stars also often have friends from behind the scenes in the entertainment industry. These could be managers, agents, publicists, and journalists. Use Google to find out who certain people are. If they are known entertainment industry insiders, that would support the theory that only a genuine star would have them as Facebook friends.

You should also read the apparent star’s Facebook and Twitter posts very carefully. Watch out for spelling mistakes and also ignorant, absurd statements. If you read carefully you can often spot an imitator through the things they say, which are often stupid or ridiculous sounding.
