Why Can’t I Orgasm? A New Approach to Women Struggling With Orgasms!

How it All Started for Me

If you’re one of my patients, you may already know the story. The story of how I jumped ship from emergency room medicine into my current practice of Regenerative and Aesthetic medicine. I came across the regenerative effects of Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP) in a conference. Specifically the effects of PRP in regenerating Sexual Wellness caught my attention. I thought to myself “now this is something natural and promising in a field no one is talking about, that I can totally get behind”. In fact I started my clinic aiming to only do PRP injections because of how impressive the effect of this Liquid Gold is no matter where you put it.

O-Shot: A Shot Into My What?!

If you haven’t yet heard about the O-shot, you’re in for a treat. The O-shot (standing for Orgasm Shot) is the name trademarked by Dr. Runnels for the injection of your own PRP (platelet rich plasma) into the Vaginal and clitoral area to enhance orgasms among other indications.

Known to many patients as liquid gold, Platelet-rich plasma has been the subject of more than 800 scientific papers. PRP is a concentrated portion of your blood that is rich in platelets, growth factors, interleukins, cytokines, and basically all the components that your body needs to repair itself. PRP has been long used in recovery from muscle and joint injuries as well as in the treatment of some chronic conditions, and now has made its way into regenerative treatments. Wherever we inject PRP it does its magic: signal the stem cells in your body to come to the area and start making new cells, and restore function.

How Does the O-Shot Work?

Your PRP is injected into specific areas of the vaginal wall and clitoris. The PRP injection causes the growth of new blood vessels and nerves. So that means better sensitivity and engorgement of the tissue. This renewed function causes healthier more functional vaginal and clitoral tissue that respond better to sexual activity.

But the O-shot treats many other conditions as well.

Does It Hurt?

The O-shot is virtually painless. The area is numbed using a numbing cream. Then the clitoris is numbed with a local nerve block so there is no pain with the PRP injection.

We also offer nitrous gas to anyone who may still be anxious, to help make the procedure completely comfortable in every way.

What Conditions Does O-Shot Treat?

Many conditions can be treated using the O-Shot, including:

  • Difficulty achieving orgasm: Improves sensitivity and makes it easier to reach climax
  • Vaginal Dryness, due to menopause or cancer treatment
  • Painful intercourse or sexual dysfunction
  • Stress urinary incontinence, peeing with cough, sneeze or exercise
  • Urge incontinence
  • Pain after childbirth (from episiotomy scar)
  • Chronic Pain from pelvic mesh
  • Lichen Sclerosis
  • Lichen planus

What Does the Treatment Involve?

A simple blood draw in the clinic is all that is needed.

First the topical numbing is applied to your vaginal and clitoral area.

Then your blood is drawn and immediately spun to concentrate PRP which has the platelets and the growth factors.

Next you will have a nerve block to your clitoris to completely numb it.

The PRP is then injected into specific areas of your vagina and clitoris.

The whole procedure takes about 30 minutes

Is There Any Down Time?

There is no need to modify any activities. You can leave the appointment and return to your regular activities, including sexual intercourse. You may have a sensation of fullness in the vaginal area, but this does not last more than a day or so.

What Are the Side Effects?

Greater than 75% of women benefit from the O-shot. When done correctly, there are little to no adverse side effects from the PRP injection.

You may leave the appointment with a sensation of fullness in the vaginal area, but this does not last more than a day or so.

Occasionally patients feel the urge to urinate for a few hours after the injection but this is transient.

As with any injection, there is a small chance of swelling and bruising, which heal quickly thanks to the great blood flow to the vaginal area.

What Benefits Can I Expect?

  1. Sexual desire and libido are enhanced
  2. Stronger orgasms as a result of increased vaginal or clitoral sensitivity
  3. Urinary Incontinence is reduced
  4. Better Lubrication of the vaginal area
  5. Intercourse pain is reduced or resolved
  6. G-Spot orgasms are more likely to occur
  7. Vulva skin is enhanced
  8. Lichen sclerosis symptoms are improved although PRP does not cure the condition or reverse tissue loss

How Many Treatments and How Often?

Depending on what condition we are treating, and the age and health of the patient, most people need 2-3 treatments to achieve full results.

Maintenance of the results is best accomplished by repeating every 6-18 months varying greatly between individuals, and the conditions being treated.

It has been estimated that 75-95% of women have improved sexual function as a result of the O-Shot! The intensity of sexual arousal and orgasm typically improves within days of treatment. It may take between 3 and 6 months for the full effects to manifest. If initial results aren’t as evident as expected, your doctor may recommend undergoing a second treatment.

Most patients opt to have re-treatments when the benefits of the treatment wear off, lasting anywhere from 6-18 months.
