Ashley Graham Goes Undercover For ‘Uncover Boss: Celebrity Edition’

The ‘Undercover Boss’ reality series opened the gap between multi-millionaire bosses and their struggling employees. Project Runway stars Heidi Klum and Tim Gunn won an Emmy for Outstanding Reality Program, beating out Antiques Roadshow; Deadliest Catch; Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives; and Survivor host Jeff Probst.

Sports Illustrated model Ashley Graham starred on this episode, going undercover as Morgan Williams, an aspiring curvy fashion model. To prepare for her appearance, Shelby Michael Patton, head makeup artist, slathered Ashley in silicone rubber.

Modeling

During her Undercover Boss episode, Graham pretended to be Morgan Williams — an aspiring curvy model hoping to break into the cutthroat fashion industry. The Sports Illustrated cover girl went the full sexy diva route, complete with red hair, bangs, and cheek piercings. Shelby Michael Patton, the show’s head makeup artist, slathered her face in silicone rubber for hours on end to create the look — which included a new nose, forehead, and cheeks.

The episode premiered last Friday and received some great feedback from viewers, including one woman who said she felt like a “soul sister” after meeting Graham. She says she’s been receiving messages from people all over the country. Last week, Graham took to Instagram to thank her followers for the response and admonish them not to tell anyone they met her on the show. “It’s so much easier for people to make fun of you than it is to try and help you,” she wrote.

Acting

Ashley Graham is a model, author, body activist, and now, the latest celebrity to go undercover for CBS’ Undercover Boss. In the June 22 episode, the Sports Illustrated model posed as an aspiring model named Morgan for an open casting call. She wore red hair, bangs, cat-eye glasses, and cheek piercings to disguise her famous face—and she was able to go completely incognito.

Shelby Michael Patton, the show’s head makeup artist, told The New York Post that making one of the world’s most well-known models unrecognizable wasn’t easy. “It would have been easy to make her ugly, frumpy, or old, but we really wanted to focus on making her look like a normal human,” she said. “We didn’t want her to look caricature-like or over the top.”

The results were impressive, as Graham easily impressed the executives she met while working on the shop floor at Pickfords, Bristol Street Motors, and Wyldecrest Parks. She also managed to impress Alexa, an aspiring curvy model who had no shortage of confidence.

As a result of her performance, the episode earned an Emmy nomination for Outstanding Reality Program. Undercover Boss beat out Antiques Roadshow, Survivor, Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, and Shark Tank for the honor.

The episode premiered last Friday and was a hit with viewers, boosting Graham’s Instagram followers by more than 3,000 and resulting in messages from fans around the country. Graham has since been busy promoting the show and her upcoming book, Expecting A Miracle. She’s also slated to star in a recurring role on ABC’s hit comedy series Galavante as a love interest for the main character, played by Jonathan Groff.

Writing

As if Graham wasn’t already a total babe, her makeover for Undercover Boss: Celebrity Edition made her unrecognizable. The Sports Illustrated model transformed herself into a curvy fashion model with red hair, bangs, and cheek piercings for the episode. She pretended to try out for a modeling agency’s open casting call and met Alexa, a ballerina who defies the body-type expectations of professional dancers.

In other news, Project Runway host Heidi Klum and star Tim Gunn won the Emmy Award for Outstanding Reality Program at Saturday’s Creative Arts Emmy Awards ceremony. They beat out Antiques Roadshow, Deadliest Catch, Diners, Drive-Ins and Dives, So You Think You Can Dance, Survivor, and Shark Tank. Congratulations to all the winners!

Designing

Ashley Graham is one of the world’s most recognizable models. But slap a pair of red hair, bangs, cat-eye glasses and cheek piercings on her and even the most industry-adept modeling agents won’t know who she is. And according to Shelby Michael Patton, head makeup artist for the show, it was no easy feat. “We really wanted to make her look like a real human being you might see walking down the street—not caricature-like or over-the-top,” she told The New York Post. To do so, they slathered her face with three layers of silicone rubber for over an hour to create a mold, and then each day, they spent hours putting on the prosthetics, wig and makeup.

The results were stunning. Last Friday, Graham starred on CBS’ Undercover Boss: Celebrity Edition, in which she went undercover at an open casting call for a modeling agency as Morgan Williams, an aspiring curvy model who wants to break into the cutthroat fashion industry. While there, she meets Alexa – a professional dancer who defies the traditional body-type for her career.
