Draymond Green’s response to Dillon Brooks’ inflammatory comments should make the Warriors’ game against the Grizzlies on Thursday in Memphis a little spicy.

Brooks recently told ESPN that he doesn’t like the Golden State Warriors team and, in particular, Green because “Draymond talks a lot. Gets away with a lot, too.”

On his most recent Draymond Green Show podcast, Green offered up a five-minute rant in response, calling Brooks a “clown” and an “idiot” for his comments.

“(Brooks) said, ‘I don’t like Draymond at all.’ You don’t know me. That’s number one,” Green said.

“He said, ‘I just don’t like Golden State.’ I, quite frankly, wouldn’t like a team that beats me all the time either.

That’s number two. ‘I don’t want anything to do with them.’ Quite frankly, you were a little kid in high school watching us win championships. You should be happy that you even witnessed that … You’re a fan. That’s crazy.”

Green went on to offer up his take on Brooks’ role in the Grizzlies’ inability to get over the hump and compete for a championship.

“If you ever wondered why the Memphis Grizzlies is not ready to compete for a championship, look no further than this idiot right here,” Green said. “They actually are depending on this guy to help them win a championship, and he says his game is cool. Quite frankly, that just shows how little you know about basketball. That’s where it gets really interesting.

“Your level of understanding the game of basketball is at a fan level. And you’re running around talking about a dynasty? The dynasty starts after you, not with you. That’s just a fact. I know dynasty-like players. They aren’t clowns. That doesn’t work when building a dynasty. Take it from me, I actually know. Clowns don’t work building a dynasty.”

The Warriors and Grizzlies have formed somewhat of a rivalry with disparate levels of achievement on both ends. Golden State beat the Grizzlies in a heated Western Conference semi-finals on their way to a fourth championship. Green was ejected via flagrant two foul in Game 1 after a hard foul on Brandon Clarke and Brooks’ was ejected for the same in Game 2 after a nasty foul on Gary Payton II mid-air that led to Payton breaking his elbow.

When Ja Morant hurt his knee in Game 3, Grizzlies head coach Taylor Jenkins and Morant insinuated that Jordan Poole had caused the injury on a play they had the league review — the NBA saw nothing suspicious.

Brooks has chirped plenty at Warriors this season, prompting Klay Thompson to taunt Brooks after hitting a dagger 3-pointer in Golden State’s Christmas win. The Warriors beat Memphis on a buzzer-beater in their second match-up at Chase Center.

Morant will miss Thursday’s game amid an NBA investigation. The Memphis star has missed the team’s last two games after an incident in which he showed an apparent handgun during an Instagram Live video at a Denver-area nightclub.

Green voice his support for Morant and his family on the podcast before going off on Brooks.

“I’m trying to figure out why they like you in Memphis,” Green said about Brooks “Or do they like you in Memphis? I’m not sure your teammates like you. Doesn’t lead to winning. I can tell you why they like me [in Golden State]. When you contribute the way I have contributed to winning four championships, they tend to like you.

“Next time you speak up on me, you should do some soul searching. Next time you speak up on me, I hope you’re in a better situation than you are now, where the guys you play with actually enjoy playing with you because they actually think you’re contributing to winning.”
