Drug Rehab Has Its Fun Moments

Dale Carnegie said that “People rarely succeed unless they have fun in what they are doing”. Relapse management is based on four major concepts. To begin with, relapse is a multi-staged process. The purpose of treatment is to assist people in recognizing the early stages of a problem, when the odds of success are the best. Second, Recovery is a stage-by-stage process of personal development. Each level of rehabilitation comes with its own set of relapse dangers. Third, cognitive therapy and mind-body relaxation, which are used to create healthy coping abilities, are the most important preventative care methods. Fourth, the majority of relapses may be described using a few simple guidelines. Within these four ideas, fun must be a fundamental factor.

Fun Is A Part Of Recovery

The journey to recovery must not be plagued by drudgery and stodgy activities that makes one want to fall back into the old patterns. You have heard it being said that “laughter is the best medicine”, well a lot of that laughter comes when one is having fun. These Fun Moments are meant to curb the rise of the existential dread that is normally associated with alcohol and drug abuse recovery, especially during the last stages when the fear of relapse lurks, waiting to pounce on the unsuspecting victim.

Try Out New Things

In the words of the Canadian motivational speaker Brian Tracy- “Learn something new. Try something different. Convince yourself that you have no limits.” A lot of the fun activities that Quest2Recovery engages with our program participants involves pushing one’s limits to discover something essential about themselves. The goal of fun is fun, and one often finds that during that process, one uncovers a manifold of oneself. At our institution, we do things like rock climbing, surfing, hiking for recovery, playing a sport, movies, bowling, camping, and any other activity that we co-create with our members and staff. So, try out new things, you never know where they’ll lead, the joy, the fun, is in the discovery.

Find Healthier Friends

Misty Copeland, the American ballet dancer says that “Anything is possible when you have the right people there to support you.” We all know that a strong support system is critical in one’s well-being and victory. A general needs an army to win the war. Programs like the 12-Steps and other recovery pillar groups (faith-based or social network groups) are introduced at the rehabilitation center where one is given the mechanics of participating in these types of groups. When one “returns” to the outside world, one can get lonely, particularly if one is tempted to go back to the old clique of friends during the addiction period. So, what we do is help you find healthy friends using the tools of the 8-parts of Wellness that we cover in the rehab process. Finding the right support group is vital as well- because some of these after-rehab groups can get toxic and reinforce old patterns if one is not careful. Remember, show me your friends, and I will show you your future.

Family Support Goes A Long Way

We, like Dominic Toretto, believe that family is indispensable, in fact, to quote him, “The most important thing in life is family. The people right here, right now”. Family goes a long way in helping treat substance abuse and emphasizing healthy socialization. Family ensures that you get to your rehab center on time, visit you everyday, eat healthy, and participate in fun family events provided by Quest2Recovery. Family are first people who welcome you home after rehab, and celebrate you each day you win the battle of sobriety. Family doesn’t have to be biological, it can be the people you think of as family- friends who have stood with you during your addiction, fought alongside you, and some you have even met along the way.

How We Can Help You

At Quest2Recovery we set up partnerships for sober events such as surfing, going to sweat lodges, Alumni substance-free networking events, and everything our participants want to try out. Our objective is to seek partnerships that encourage recovery support. Institutions like ours ensure that fun is infused into every part of any recovery program. We make sure to find out the things people enjoy and co-create fun moments that most of the time end up being defining situations that ensure the recovery of an individual. Quest2Recovery is committed to your full recovery, and grows with you. Call Quest2Recovery and find out the different options available for you. Remember, keep it fun!
