ABA Therapy and Occupational Therapy for Autism

Occupational therapists apply developmental and sensory approaches to autism treatment. Both occupational therapy and ABA can work together.

Occupational therapists contribute to the diagnostic process and support and educate families in various settings using their expertise to enable engagement in occupations such as play, self-care, education, and social activities.

Applied Behavior Analysis is the predominant approach to the intervention of ASD. The method analyzes habits and uses a scientific approach to regulate them.

Empower uses a collaborative approach that uses both occupational and ABA therapy to improve the child’s success. Both therapists can communicate with each other to share the progress and modify the treatment plan based on the child’s requirements.

While occupational therapy focuses more on activities like playing, self-care, and studying the child, ABA focuses more on habits, behaviors, and reactions to the environment and other external factors. Occupational therapy and ABA go hand in hand to ensure the best progress for your child.
