Are You Suffering From Body Acne? All you need to know

Acne is a very prevalent and aggravating skin disease.. It affects as many as 85% of teenagers, but can also be seen in adults.

Body acne is much less common than facial acne, but it can still be embarrassing, especially if it’s on your back or chest.

What Is Body Acne?

Body acne is the same type of acne that occurs on your face, only it’s on another part of your body.

It’s caused by the same factors as facial acne (a combination of oil production, bacteria and dead skin cells).

Acne lesions are red bumps with a white centre (pus). They can become swollen and painful when they’re infected.

How Does Body Acne Develop?

Body acne is caused by clogged pores that become trapped with excess oil and dead skin. Bacteria multiply in these clogged pores and cause inflammation (redness).

The inflammation can lead to permanent scarring if not treated before it becomes infected or spreads to other parts of the body.

People who have oily skin tend to have more body acne because their bodies produce more sebum than people with dry or normal skin types do.

Body acne can be extremely embarrassing, especially if it occurs on your face or chest.

The most common form of body acne is called bacne (back acne). It affects the back, shoulders, and chest area. This type of acne is caused by sweat trapped in the hair follicles of your skin.

Bacne is more common in men than women because men usually have thicker body hair than women; therefore, sweat tends to stay around longer, causing bacteria to grow and cause an infection.

Body Acne Causes

Body acne is usually caused by bacteria living inside hair follicles clogged with dead skin cells and oil (sebum). Bacterial infections can cause bacteria to grow inside these clogged pores.

This leads to inflammation and red bumps on the surface of the skin.

Hormones play an important role in body acne because they affect how much sebum you make and how sensitive your skin is to this oil.

If you’re experiencing puberty or pregnancy, your hormone levels might be fluctuating, which could lead to an increase in body acne flare-ups during these times of transition for your body’s hormones

Cure For Body Acne

Body acne is a skin condition that affects your body in the same way that regular acne affects your face.

It can be a very frustrating and embarrassing condition, especially if you have it on your back or other parts of your body.

While it’s not as common as facial acne, body acne can still affect many people. Body acne usually appears on the lower back, shoulders and buttocks.

However, it can also appear on other areas like the chest, stomach and thighs.

Body acne causes red bumps to form on your skin which may become whiteheads or blackheads when they get clogged with dirt or dead skin cells.

The more severe form of body acne is called nodular acne and this happens when there are deep pockets under the skin surface with pus inside them.

If you suffer from body acne, then there are things that you can do to help clear up your skin once again:

  • Wash daily with a mild cleanser such as Cetaphil Daily Facial Cleanser
  • Use gentle exfoliators once or twice per week for sensitive skin types; avoid using products containing alcohol or fragrance.
  • Exfoliate Regularly
  • Moisturize Regularly

Precautions For Body Acne

If you are suffering from body acne, you should consult your doctor to determine the underlying cause of your symptoms and to find out what steps you can take to get rid of them.

The following are some precautions that may help prevent body acne:

  • Wash your body regularly with a mild soap or shower gel; avoid using soaps with perfumes or other additives that can irritate the skin.
  • Apply moisturizer after washing your body; consider using an oil-free moisturizer with an SPF (sun protection factor) rating of 15 or higher during the summer months
  • Use an exfoliation scrub at least once a week to get rid of dead skin cells.

Conclusion

Body acne is a problem that many people have to deal with. Body acne can be caused by a number of different factors, including hormones, stress, diet and even products that you use on your skin.

Body acne is curable, which is excellent news. If you’re suffering from this condition, there are a number of steps that you can take to clear up your skin.
