Jackie Robinson was an American professional baseball player who famously broke the color barrier in Major League Baseball (MLB) studentsgroom. On April 15, 1947, he became the first African-American to play in the MLB when he stepped onto the field for the Brooklyn Dodgers. His groundbreaking achievement paved the way for future athletes in the sport. In 1946, Rickey signed Robinson to a minor league contract and sent him to the Montreal Royals, the Dodgers’ top farm team. The following year, Robinson was promoted to the Dodgers and became the first African-American to play in the MLB forbesexpress.
