Does This Serve Or Deplete?

It is a huge epiphany at times when we realise something that we thought or felt was serving us, was actually depleting us. Just because we have a history or tenure with a person or a situation doesn’t mean we need to remain engaging with it when we understand it is no longer serving us. When something or someone has stopped serving us, it started depleting us. We will continue to be drained by something or someone until we do something about it. The peace, the learning and the growth is on the other side of the discomfort we often avoid. When something no longer serves, we need to address it. Even if the addressing of it is in our own minds with honestly in the reflection. Understanding and accepting a situation for what it really is and not what we thought it was or want it to be is often challenging, but it is possible. We don’t need to be depleted, we are responsible for ourselves. We are the priority. Unconditional tolerance is not unconditional love. Sometimes the most loving thing we can do is to walk away. This is showing self-love for us, in that we prioritise how we feel and what is important for us. And it is showing love for someone or something else. We can only add to, we cannot be responsible for other people’s happiness or peace. That is up to them. Sometimes the only way others learn is by losing. It is a great question to ask of ourselves about the people and the situations of our lives, does this serve or deplete?
